Miss Tri-Cities and Miss Tri-Cities Teen headed to Miss Washington competition

For Abby Faulk, it was a lifelong dream to become Miss Tri-Cities.

Last year, that dream came true when Faulk was crowned Miss Tri-Cities 2024. At 16, she was crowned Miss Tri-Cities Teen in her first pageant.

Now she’s aiming to become Miss Washington.

After months of prep, Faulk will be competing for that title in Olympia in July during Miss Washington Week. The week includes a runway show and presentation at the Tumwater Fourth of July Festival.

As Miss Tri-Cities, Faulk’s community service initiative focuses on improving mental health. “You Matter! Where Passion Meets Wellness” encourages people to pursue passions that can lead them to mental wellness, as well as inspire them to use their voice.

Faulk volunteers with the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) Tri-Cities and NAMI Washington. She has been able to present her mental health initiative in classrooms, lobby before state legislators, do community outreach and manage the NAMI Washington Instagram account.

She graduated from Richland High School in 2018 and from Central Washington University last year with her bachelor’s degrees in dance and apparel, textiles and merchandising.

Giorgia Henry will be competing for Miss Washington Teen in Olympia at the end of June. Henry is a junior at Chiawana High School in Pasco and a Running Start student at Columbia Basin College.

Henry chose children’s literacy as the focus of her community service in the Tri-Cities. She has contacted all elementary school librarians in the Tri-Cities to encourage them to adopt the Book-IT reading incentive program.

As Miss Washington Teen, she plans to reach out to school superintendents statewide to encourage the reading incentive program and to schedule classroom presentations that expand a student’s desire to read.

Miss Washington Teen will be crowned on June 29 and Miss Washington will be crowned on July 6.
