Missy Elliott's "Funky White Sister" Made a Surprise AMAs Cameo

Missy Elliott wasn't joking around when she described her love for Mary Halsey, aka the rapper's "Funky White Sister."

If you need a refresher, Halsey is the woman whose rendition of Elliott's classic "Work It" went viral earlier this summer. Fans loved not only her sharp tongue and choreography, but her passion. I mean, can you blame them.

Elliott paid her respects on Twitter, posting the video with the caption, "Mood ... I'm still weak off this!"

Then, as seems to be the case with all viral videos, the footage came across the desk of Ellen DeGeneres. And the host made magic happen when she brought Ellitott and Halsey together.

Their friendship didn't end once the pandemonium died down. Shortly after, Elliott dubbed Halsey her "Funky White Sister."

On Tuesday, while Ciara and Missy Elliott took to the stage at the AMAs to perform "Level Up," the camera panned to the audience — and yep, there was Mary!

Name a more iconic duo. I'll wait.
