Moda Operandi and Caviar Kaspia Bring the ‘World’s Most Famous Potato’ to Homes in New Potato Bowl Collaboration

Moda Operandi and famed Parisian restaurant Caviar Kaspia recently released an exclusive co-branded collaboration featuring the online fashion retailer’s top-selling ceramic potato bowls. The bowls, which come in a set of two, debuted in 2019 and are based on the restaurant’s signature twice-baked potato topped with crème fraîche and caviar.

The bowls come with mother-of-pearl spoons and are available for $390 at Caviar Kaspia’s restaurant at The Mark in New York City and at the Place de la Madeleine location in Paris, with plans to expand to other Caviar Kaspia locations.

Moda Operandi originally released its potato bowls in 2019. In the 1970s, the company’s co-founder and chief brand officer Lauren Santo Domingo, who describes herself as a fan of “things that look like other things,” discovered similar bowls at the time but could not purchase adequate quantities to meet demand for her larger parties. As a solution, she asked her Moda Operandi design team to create a version through their private label home line, Moda Domus, and it quickly rose to become a popular item on the platform. “The ceramic potato might just be my greatest style contribution,” Santo Domingo said in a statement. “They make an appearance at all of my parties, whether it’s an intimate gathering of 10 or a roaring party for 100. But I can’t take all the credit for their popularity — the Caviar Kaspia Selection Oscietra caviar served on top might have something to do with it.”

“The Caviar Kaspia potato isn’t just a dish — it’s an icon,” Mac-Crohon said, adding that the dish has been a longtime popular menu item at the restaurant, which opened doors in 1927. “For nearly a century, it’s been at the center of fashion’s most memorable nights. Together, we’ve created a true tribute to the world’s most famous potato, bringing Kaspia’s soul into the most stylish homes,” shares Mac-Crohon.

Earlier this month, Moda Operandi celebrated the collaboration with a group of trend setters, editors and friends for a Valentine’s Day-themed cocktail and dinner at Caviar Kaspia at The Mark, with the signature baked potato in the ceramic bowls as the main course, on the evening of the launch. The brands have collaborated before, with Moda Operandi hosting the opening of Caviar Kaspia at The Mark in February 2023 during New York Fashion Week.
