When Sixtine, who has a huge TikTok following, moved into the apartment, she described it as the "classic landlord special," with white walls, no window treatments, paint on the floor, and exposed radiators. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
"I’ve done my best to make my space feel like a 'cozy New York apartment,'" Sixtine says. "I love the look of a prewar unit, and I didn't want to take away from that, but it definitely needed a little love (as most prewar spaces do)." Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
"I am huge on my space feeling 'lived in' rather than a more modern place where everything is neat and minimalist," she continues. "I think my bookshelf wall does a great job adding character and personality to my apartment and is often the most-talked-about aspect of my apartment." Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
After finding inspiration on Pinterest, Sixtine drew up the bookshelf blueprint, and she and her former roommate hung the shelves (first with cheaper brackets and then more expensive ones). A contractor installed the bottom part in 2023. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin

Even though the apartment's layout, square footage (800!), and friendly neighbors make Sixtine feel grateful, she's still had to adjust to certain "prewar building quirks." Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
"If you look at my curtain rod in the living room, it looks crooked because the windows aren't perfectly perpendicular to the ceiling because that's crooked," Sixtine explains. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
The best part about the apartment, according to Sixtine, is that it's south-facing, which means it's flooded with natural light all day. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
Sixtine intentionally designed her bedroom with simplicity in mind. "I like to keep my sleeping space on the calmer side," she explains. However, she broke a design rule when dreaming up her room. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
"My friends very much did not see the vision with the 'fake' fireplace mantel I wanted, but I am so glad I ignored them and got one anyway," Sixtine shares. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
You might be surprised to learn that the oldest things in Sixtine's apartment are actually her greenery. "Some of the plants have followed me through my previous apartments — one of which I got when I lived in my very first solo apartment (a studio) in 2018," she says. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin

When Sixtine's former roommate moved out, she turned her old bedroom into a dreamy walk-in closet. "I used IKEA closet systems and bookshelves to turn the space into what it is now," she explains. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
When two people lived in the apartment, Sixtine admits that finding adequate closet space was tricky. Not anymore! Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
Before finding this apartment, Sixtine had lived in seven different apartments within seven years — she was looking for a space to plant roots. This apartment checked all of the boxes. Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin
“I wanted a space that I was going to stay in for more than a year — something I had never done with previous apartments because there was always something I was compromising on,” Sixtine says. “But not with this one!” Credit: KiritinCredit: Kiritin

Model and content creator Sixtine Rouyre is no stranger to moving apartments in New York City. In fact, she moved into seven different flats during the course of seven years. While I’m tired just typing that (I can only imagine how she felt), the constant shuffle gave Sixtine some valuable skills to use when it was time to move again three years ago. “I knew what I was looking for and what was a ‘good apartment,’” she explains.
Sixtine and her roommate at the time looked at over 40 apartments on StreetEasy until she came across a two-bedroom unit in the East Village that piqued her interest. Sixtine’s roommate was at work, and the broker left the apartment unlocked, so she toured it alone.
“When I walked into this apartment, I knew immediately it was the one,” Sixtine, who has shared clips of her home on TikTok, explains. “For the East Village, it was practically a gem: huge bedrooms that were separated by a large living room, ample kitchen storage, a balcony, and lots of south-facing windows.”
The connection was so strong that Sixtine waited in the apartment for her roommate to get off work and see the place. That day, she completed the home application while sitting on the bare living room floor. She was tired of moving and knew this was the space for her (plus her cat, Levi, and her sister’s cats, Richie and Henry).
“I wanted a space that I was going to stay in for more than a year — something I had never done with previous apartments because there was always something I was compromising on,” Sixtine says. “But not with this one!”

WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. consumer confidence plummeted in February, the biggest monthly decline in more than four years, a business research group said Tuesday, with inflation seemingly stuck and a trade war under President Donald Trump seen by a growing number of Americans as inevitable.
Tesla's stock tumbled 8% on Tuesday, pushing its market value below $1 trillion for the first time since November after data showed the electric car maker's sales slumped in Europe in January. The European Automobile Manufacturers Association reported that Tesla sales dropped 45% in Europe, compared with a 37% jump in overall sales of EVs in Europe. The sales decline underscores Tesla's challenges following a dip in global deliveries last year that has raised pressure on CEO Elon Musk to roll out lower-priced models as well as the autonomous cars that he says underpin Tesla's future.
NEW YORK (AP) — Some of Wall Street’s brightest stars lost more of their shine Tuesday after another report said U.S. households are getting more pessimistic about the economy.

(Reuters) -An analyst note flagging a possible slowdown by Microsoft in leasing data center capacity grabbed the market's attention on Monday, lending credence to skepticism among investors worried that the AI-led stock-market boom might be running out of steam. TD Cowen analysts in a note Friday said the tech giant had scrapped leases for sizeable data center capacity in the United States, suggesting potential oversupply as it builds out artificial intelligence infrastructure. The brokerage, citing its supply chain checks, said Microsoft has canceled leases totaling "a couple of hundred megawatts" of capacity with at least two private data-center operators, the analysts led by Michael Elias said.
