If you’ve never had to teach your child how to use the bathroom, then you may need to be reminded that something that feels innate to you now was once a learned skill.

Toilet training can be even more of a struggle for moms of young boys. There are the usual tips: lift the seat, wipe it down once you’re done and put the seat back in its proper place. While those tasks associated with going to the bathroom are relatively easy to teach, aim is a whole other ball game.

Mom of three, Kristina Kuzmic, addressed the task – asking why something so simple is so seemingly difficult for the young men in her household. Captioned “sometimes I write my kids love notes,” Kuzmic uploaded a photo to Facebook of her toilet at home, plastered with sticky notes, directing her boys exactly where they should be aiming.

The post received more than 87,000 likes and 144,000 shares with moms across the country praising the post and discussing how this idea needs to be distributed worldwide.

“Make these laminated, with an adhesive base on the back, and I am sure any woman that lives with men will buy these!” wrote one user.

“My son is 12 and he has been banished from using the main washroom and has to use the one downstairs. I’ve informed him until he learns to lift the seat and actually try to aim he won’t be using the same one I do,” another commented.

“I’m not the only one! Thank you because sometimes I think that I failed in the basic learnings… I tell my son that our bathroom smells like a public toilet after he goes inside,” added another.

With a resounding “yes” from many, it’s hard to believe this post could cause any controversy – until mansplainers stumbled on the viral photo. Of the 8,000 comments, some were posted by men who felt the need to defend their bathroom skills.

“It’s hilarious that so many women think that men piss on the floor like it’s a cartoon with a fire hose and we are holding on for dear life as it flies all over the place. Try pouring water from 2-3 feet high with a spout into a bucket on the floor and see what happens. It splashes when it hits the water!” posted one Facebook user.

“Funny thing is a female has never peed out of one so how do they know why it happens?” questioned another.

“You can never appreciate what it takes, until you have one of your own to manipulate,” read one comment.

While posts of this comedic nature are common for Kuzmic on social media, the topic obviously hit a touchy point for her male followers. For the female supporters, the solution is an easy one: if you make a mess, clean it up.

“Just aim properly and clean up your mess. It’s common sense.”
