'Moms, you are enough': Canadian TV host says it'll be a 'difficult week' for some parents ahead of Taylor Swift concerts in Toronto

Melissa Grelo tells parents they're "doing great," even if they weren't able to snag a ticket to one of the pop star's upcoming shows.

Taylor Swift is kicking off her "Eras Tour" in Toronto this week, with a series of six shows at the Rogers Centre over the next two Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. While each of the global pop star's concerts are sold out, one Canadian TV personality is offering an uplifting message to parents who couldn't snag tickets.

Melissa Grelo, who's the moderator of CTV's The Social, took to Instagram on Thursday to share a video reminding moms they're "doing great" — even if they haven't shelled out thousands of dollars for concert tickets for their kids. Sitting in her car, the Toronto-born television host wanted to tell parents they're "enough," and that she understands the struggle as her own 10-year-old daughter is a Swiftie.

"As exciting as all of the Taylor Swift excitement is right now in the city of Toronto, I know this is also going to be an extremely difficult week for a lot of, specifically, Swiftie moms out there," Grelo began in her Instagram Reel. "It's just a matter of supply and demand. Far too much demand and not enough supply when it comes to tickets.

"I know, moms, that you're trying to do anything and everything to bring the joy of Taylor Swift to your kids."

She continued to share she understands the next couple of weeks might be challenging for parents, as the singer performs in the city this weekend and next. Grelo added she has empathy for those who have tried "absolutely everything to get their hands on tickets to no avail, and if there are any tickets available, they are literally the price of a car."

Swift is playing shows from Nov. 14 to 16 in Toronto, and then returning for three more shows from Nov. 21 to 23. Tickets for the now-sold-out concerts went on sale back in 2023, and any last-minute tickets are reportedly selling for as high as $33,000.

"I just want to acknowledge that this isn't going to be an easy time for everybody, as exciting as it is for the city. ... I want to just say, I feel for you. I see you. There are little girls whose hearts are breaking everywhere," Grelo continued. "But moms, you are enough. You are doing a fantastic job. Whether or not you were able to get tickets, this is a little blip in history. They are going to get over it."

She wrapped her message by saying this might be a lesson, even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment: "I see you, I feel you and I get it if you just want to turn off everything Taylor Swift for the next two weeks. ... Moms, you're doing great."

In the comments section of her post, fellow parents and other fans expressed their appreciation for Grelo's words.

"Thank you for posting this! I feel seen! This made me cry. People who don't live with a real Swiftie don't get it," one mom wrote, who added it "breaks (her) heart" she couldn't get her daughter tickets to one of the shows.

"Needed this, I feel like a total failure of a mom. My daughter's absolutely heartbroken that she’s not going," someone added.

"Crying listening to ur post. It's been a stressful time trying to make my son happy. These prices are literally insane," one person shared.

Others were more critical about both Grelo's point of view and how this is a "first world problem" to worry over. Earlier on Thursday, Grelo posted on her Instagram Stories that she was planning on "surprising [Marquesa] later today and I don't know who is going to be more excited," set to the tune of Swift's hit song "22."

"Great message, but you don't get it, 'cause you just posted you are going to surprise M. You are lucky to afford tickets, most worry about groceries right now," one person penned.

"Privilege at its best. I'm moving on to go donate some food!" another shared about people's overall stress over the situation.

"Really great time to talk about grace, also. Grace for those able to go and grace for those unable," fellow Canadian TV host Teri Hart added.
