The Must-Make Recipes From Our Editors' Thanksgiving Menus This Year
The Thanksgiving countdown has officially started. Most of us are in the process of shopping, menu planning, and even pre-holiday prepping. Some of us rely on family-approved classics and recipes that have been passed down for generations. But Thanksgiving is also a prime opportunity to experiment with new renditions of the holiday staples you know and love.
Because why not swap the bread for gnocchi in this year's stuffing? Or spike your mac and cheese with butternut squash? You never know which creative riff will became a new holiday mainstay.
Team Delish has spent months developing and perfecting fun new Thanksgiving recipes (we're not kidding—we've been making holiday food since July). And many Delish Turkey Day dishes are making an appearance at our own dinners this year. We've asked our team of food experts to share what recipes they're cooking for Thanksgiving. So if you're still in need of some menu inspo, check out our editor-approved picks below:
Joanna Saltz, Editorial Director
Our fearless leader is making a holiday meal packed full of Delish recipes. The star of her Thanksgiving table? Our best dry brined turkey recipe. She's pairing this perfectly seasoned bird with cheesy bacon spinach dip, mashed potatoes, and cacio e pepe Brussels sprouts. And to round out the meal, she's serving our salted caramel pecan pie.
Lindsey Ramsey, Director of Content Operations
Lindsey Ramsey, our Director of Content Operations, takes Thanksgiving very seriously. One recipe you can find at her Thanksgiving gathering every year is our cream cheese mashed potatoes (paired with our gravy recipe, obviously). She's also serving a classic roasted turkey and tasking her sister with making her first pie ever—our apple butter pie. And to start the party on the right foot, she's serving a batch of our caramelized onion and goat cheese bites.
Carissa Tozzi, Executive Content Editor
Executive Content Editor Carissa Tozzi is starting her holiday meal with our viral cranberry whipped feta dip (and TBH, so should you). For the main event, she's forgoing the classic turkey for a comforting pot of osso buco paired with a side of roasted fennel. Our best-ever apple crisp is the cherry on top of her meal.
Makinze Gore, Senior Food Editor
Makinze Gore, our Senior Food Editor, is making a plate of fluffy whipped ricotta toasts for a TikTok-approved Thanksgiving appetizer. She's also embarking on the intense, if slightly dangerous, journey of frying a turkey. Alongside classic sides like mashed potatoes, she's making a risotto-style broccoli cheese rice. And, since Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without dessert, she's making a batch of our classic pecan pie.
Julia Smith, Director of Video
Julia Smith comes from a long line of Thanksgiving enthusiasts. In fact, the matriarchs of her family have over 50 years of holiday menus saved in a special binder. This year, their menu borrows from old and new recipes, like their Memaw's sausage balls, their great grandma's famous veggie dip, and Smith's mom's chocolate pecan pie. But, of course, there has to be a Delish recipe in there somewhere—this year, it'll be our refreshing Brussels sprout salad.
Taylor Ann Spencer, Assistant Food Editor
Assistant Food Editor Taylor Ann Spencer is skipping the apps this year to put all of her focus on perfecting the rest of the meal. She's adding her own twist to our dry-brined turkey recipe by introducing her own spice blend and a gorgeous glaze. Spencer is also making our Brussels sprout salad recipe alongside a classic pumpkin cheesecake.
Camille Lowder, Digital Food Producer
Our Digital Food Producer Camille Lowder is hosting a vegan Thanksgiving this year and doing plant-based spins on some iconic Delish recipes. She's starting off with a vegan-friendly version of our Boursin stuffed mushrooms. Her household is making not one but two batches of vegan meatloaf as well as a tray of vegan green bean casserole. To round it out, they're also serving cranberry-swirled lemon bars.
Gabby Romero, Editorial Assistant
When I'm not writing about what everybody else at Delish is making this year, I'm also planning my own holiday menu! My household is making a giant grand aioli (a.k.a. a veggie tray with a big bowl of homemade garlic aioli). We're also staunchly anti-turkey, so instead we're roasting some chickens and serving them with Taylor Ann's caramelized brussels sprouts recipe. And in honor of Claire Saffitz, I'm making her less-sweet pecan pie.
