NDP leader Jagmeet Singh welcomes second child with wife Gurkiran — see photos of 'beautiful baby girl'

The leader of Canada's New Democratic Party Jagmeet Singh has announced the birth of his second daughter.

Singh took to X (aka Twitter) on Thursday with a photo of his wife, Gurkiran Kaur Sidhu, in hospital holding their baby girl.

"Our beautiful baby girl entered this world, making Anhad an older sister," the politician captioned the post, along with "girl mom" and "girl dad" hashtags.

Many took to the social media app to congratulate the couple — including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"Congratulations to you, Jagmeet, and to your entire family," Trudeau wrote.

Followers and fellow politicians chimed in with celebratory messages.

"Congratulations and God bless your beautiful family," one person wrote.

"Congratulations! The best feeling in the world, and exactly why we do the work we do," another added.

"Setting politics aside. Congratulations and best wishes," one quipped.

The parents of two — married since 2018 — announced their second pregnancy back in July. Singh took to Instagram with a family photo, with Gurkiran in a white dress showing off her belly.

"[Gurkiran] and I would like to officially announce that Anhad just got the biggest promotion of her life… she's going to be a big sister!," Singh captioner the July 13 post. "We couldn't be happier to welcome baby #2."

His followers met the announcement with excitement, with many rushing to the comments to congratulate the couple.

"So sweet! Congratulations to your growing family!," one person commented.

"That is fabulous news sir. I wish your beautiful wife an easy and healthy pregnancy. Congratulations to your sweet little family," another wrote.

Six weeks ago, Gurkiran shared a "stunning" carousel from her baby shower. She posed in a long dark fuschia dress, holding her baby bump, in front of an autumn-themed floral backdrop. In another photo, she was captured in a candid moment with her husband and daughter.

She said in the caption they were "ready" for the baby.

"To say that this baby shower was absolutely beautiful, is an understatement… I am beyond thankful for everyone in my life that made me and this baby-to-be feel incredibly special," Gurkiran wrote.

Her followers praised her pregnancy glow.

"You look fantastic," one person commented.

"Absolutely love! You were glowing momma," another wrote, while someone wished, "Congratulations to you beautiful people."
