Netflix Renews ‘Gyeongseong Creature’ for a Second Season

As confirmed in a recent video teaser, Netflix will be renewing Gyeongseong Creature for a second season.

Last week, the streaming service aired the remaining episodes of its latest South Korean monster horror, which premiered on December 22. The period drama follows an enthralling adventure of Jang Tae-sang, a flamboyant pawn shop owner and informant (played by Park Seo-joon), and Yoon Chae-ok (Han So Hee) - a serious sleuth who specializes in finding missing people - as their paths collide for a tumultuous and life-threatening mission.

The final episode ended on a suspenseful cliffhanger, leaving viewers with unanswered questions and room for interpretation. After the credits rolled, a short scene was revealed, teasing a potential sequel or spinoff. The scene appears to take premise in modern-day Seoul, where a man is shown with an unusual scar on the back of his neck. As he turns to face the viewer, it’s revealed that that man bears a striking resemblance Jang Tae-sang, leaving the audience to ponder whether he’s the same character or a direct descendant.

Chung Dong-yoon, the director of the series, disclosed that “Season 2 presents a story with a completely different charm,” elaborating that “the change in space and time period will provide a clear distinction, offering an expanded universe feel.”

At the time of writing, a release window for the second season of Gyeongseong Creature has yet to be announced.
