You Will Never Guess Who Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Parents Are

She's slowly but surely becoming the 'It' Brit girl of the summer, but for anybody itching to know just a little bit more about Daisy Edgar-Jones, we've done the digging so that you don't have to.

The London-born and bred actor, whose breakout role was in Hulu's adaptation of Sally Rooney's bestselling novel Normal People, is, in fact, one of Hollywood's rare 'nepo babies' (internet speak for children who are born with the privilege of nepotism) in disguise.

Edgar-Jones' vertiginous rise will come as no surprise to people when they learn that she is the daughter of Phil Edgar-Jones, head of entertainment at Sky TV, who was also one of the co-creators behind Big Brother. Her mother is a former film editor who now is believed to work in real estate.

Nepotism within the world of entertainment is nothing new. Think of the Coppola family: Francis Ford directed The Godfather and Apocalypse Now and his daughter, Sofia, directed Lost in Translation, The Virgin Suicides and On the Rocks. Star of Euphoria and one of young Hollywood's brightest stars, Maude Apatow, is the daughter of Hollywood royalty Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow while another entertainment world darling, Dakota Johnson, is the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.

While many children of famous parents choose not to acknowledge their birthright, others have spoken more candidly of the privilege their lineage has afforded them. Zoe Kravitz, the daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet, defended the title of 'nepo baby' in 2022, saying in an interview with GQ: 'It's completely normal for people to be in the family business. It's literally where last names came from.' Hailey Bieber, meanwhile, took a more subtle approach by ironically wearing a 'nepo baby' tee while out in Los Angeles.

In a 2023 interview with ELLE US, Kaia Gerber, the 21-year-old model daughter of Cindy Crawford and Randy Gerber, spoke directly of the privilege she has experienced. 'I won’t deny the privilege that I have. Even if it’s just the fact that I have a really great source of information and someone to give me great advice, that alone I feel very fortunate for,' she said. 'My mum always joked, “If I could call and book a Chanel campaign, it would be for me and not you.” But I also have met amazing people through my mum whom I now get to work with.'
