New Year’s workouts got you sore? This top-rated massage gun is $52 — that's 35% off

This portable massager comes with five attachments and four different speeds so you can customize your pain relief.

As someone who works out regularly, I have a love/hate relationship with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) — that pain you get two or three days after a really good workout. On one hand, it's my body's way of telling me: great job, you worked out hard. On the other, I like being able to walk down a flight of stairs without clutching the railing like it's life or death. Luckily that's where a massage gun comes in. This mini version from Arboleaf is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but powerful enough to ease away the pain. It won't leave your wallet sore either: It's on sale for just $52 right now (from $80) thanks to a sale and an on-page coupon.

The compact powerhouse comes with five heads and four speeds so you can customize your massage experience.

$52 at Amazon

Why is this a good deal? 💰

Massage guns range from $20 for the most basic options to well north of hundreds of dollars. At $52, this Arboleaf option offers many features of higher-end models, like multiple heads and long-lasting batteries, without the three-figure price tag.

Why do I need this? 🤔

There are a few ways of dealing with DOMS. First, you could do what I did for years. Nothing (other than complain about it). Another option is to take over-the-counter pain meds like ibuprofen or acetaminophen, though those have been shown in some cases to hinder muscle growth, probably the exact opposite result you're looking for by going to the gym in the first place. A massage gun like the Arboleaf Mini is my personal choice. It offers pain relief without having to take any medications.

This massager weighs in at less than a pound, has five different heads and four speeds; the rechargeable battery lasts up to eight hours.

When in use the Arboleaf Mini is quieter than a room fan — only 45 decibels — so you can use it at work or home without bothering those around you.

What reviewers say 💬

Still on the fence about whether this massager is for you? Let's hear from a few of the 3,000+ five-star fans.

Pros 👍

"This is my go-to massage gun to help with lymphatic draining, explained a happy five-star reviewer. "The battery lasts a very long time and the gun [offers] different levels of power that is very useful. I also love the variety of head attachments and am partial to the flat ball head. It is lightweight, which makes it easier to use for longer periods of time. Best of all, you cannot beat the price. I bought one that was 5 times the cost of this one and don't like it nearly as much."

Another five-star shopper purchased this massage gun after a healthcare visit. "My chiropractor uses this model and I was impressed [with] how it worked. So I bought one and use it nightly to massage my back muscles and hips that are in spasms due to back surgery, etc. Small enough to manipulate with one hand."

This happy customer considered a more expensive massager but went with the Arboleaf instead. "My doctor had recommended a Theragun Mini, but the price was $150 on sale. This device is a third of the cost and comes with five different attachments."

Cons 👎

"Took off one star because for the price it should come with a hard traveling case," critiqued a four-star reviewer. "It comes in a box that is quite clumsy and has a cheap carrying pouch. Overall, it's small but weighty and fits well in the hand...."

This four-star customer wasn't thrilled with the size. "I didn't realize how small it was. I bought it for my son and it's too small for his hands. I returned it. He is 5'11 at 200 lbs..."

The battery lasts 8 hours, so the massager won't need charging often. Choose from five heads for targeted relief.
