Nicola Coughlan Is Entering Her Fairy Era In This First Look At Her New Series
A first look at Bridgerton star, Nicola Coughlan's starring role in the upcoming adaptation of Enid Blyton's beloved The Magic Faraway Tree novel has been revealed.
Based on The Faraway Tree series of novels, The Magic Faraway Tree follows the story of Polly and Tim Thompson and their children, Beth, Joe and Fran, who relocate to the remote — and mystical, magical — English countryside. Coughlan has been cast as woodland fairy Silky and in the first look, which the Derry Girls star shared to her Instagram, she is seen peering out from trees into bright sunlight.
The teaser into her new project comes after Coughlan spoke about filming of the upcoming fourth season of Bridgerton, in which she plays Penelope Featherington.
'It’s quite nice to take a step back and can let them [the new romantic leads] like do it all,' Coughlan told E! News at the Time Next 100 event in October in New York City. 'We’ve been filming [Bridgerton] for about a month now. But I get to pop in and out, so I get to come to New York which I couldn’t have done last year, so it’s quite nice.'
'It’s gonna be amazing,' the Derry Girls star added. 'Luke and Yerin are hard at work now. They’re having such a good time.'
The rest of the cast of The Magic Faraway Tree is similarly starry, too. Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield will play the children's parents Polly and Tim, while Ted Lasso's Nonso Anozie will play Moonface and Baby Reindeer star Jessica Gunning will star as Dame Washalot. British icons Sirs Lenny Henry, Michael Palin and Simon Russell Beale have also been announced and will play a trio of mystical wise men from the Land of Know-Alls.
