The Nike and SKIMS Universes Are Colliding to Create a Totally New Brand

Exciting fashion news alert: Early this Tuesday morning, Nike and SKIMS dropped a major bombshell—the two companies are launching a new brand together this spring. Cue the screams, tweets, and StockX sellers jolting awake in a panicked frenzy!
Nike, the time-tested classic athletic giant that probably made your first pair of back-to-school sneakers, has been around since 1964. But in the age of lululemon, Alo Yoga, Vuori, and a million other trendy athleisure brands, competition is stiff. Sportswear brands need to get creative and pull out some big stops to keep making waves—like, say, I don’t know, joining forces with Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS, perhaps?!
NikeSKIMS—yes, one word—is set to be the best of both worlds. While few details have been released, we know that NikeSKIMS isn't just a one-off collaboration. It's going to be an entirely new brand that melds the DNA of Nike's history in the sportswear space with SKIMS' shapewear expertise and social media cachet.
So, what's this collection going to look like? We're not entirely sure yet. But my best guess is that it's going to be a melding of SKIMS' clean, minimal aesthetic and extra-soft, stretchy fabrics with Nike's technical design and sporty essentials. A press release states that the "extensive product line" will include womens apparel, footwear (this is major, BTW, considering the fact that SKIMS hasn't really ventured into shoes yet), and accessories.
