Barbour has had a busy fall/winter of collaborations. First, it dropped its third collection with Ganni, then last week it introduced its second line with Erdem, and now, the beloved British heritage brand has released a special barn jacket exclusively with J.Crew, proving the iconic style isn't going away this spring.
Limited-Edition J.Crew x Barbour® Barn Jacket™
Unsurprisingly, the limited-edition topper features all the hallmarks of the traditional barn jacket Barbour has been known for since 1984: the olive green waxed cotton shell offering the perfect weight for the upcoming transitional weather, a classic tartan lining, and of course the signature corduroy collar and matching cuffs. It’s also unisex, making it a great outerwear option for both men and women.
The collaboration between J.Crew and Barbour—who previously partnered together in 2019—couldn’t have come at a better time. Over the last couple of seasons, the outdoorsy jacket has been having a full-blown renaissance, staking its claim in mainstream fashion. J.Crew specifically has been one of many brands who has dropped several iterations of barn jackets, ranging from traditional options to cropped styles with plaid shells to ones with longer, trench-like silhouettes.
“Combing Barbour’s English countryside aesthetic with out barn jacket makes perfect sense to me,” Brendon Babenzien, J.Crew's men's creative director, said. “The barn jacket feels a little less formal in a traditionally American way, while Barbour feels a bit more elevated, especially when you consider its heritage.”
Barbour’s barn jackets have also been known for their durability and how they get better with wear. T&C’s Digital Director Caroline Hallemann has been a Barbour wearer for years and describes it as the “perfect all-weather coat.”
“It's durable enough for city living and water resistant enough to stand up to unpredictable weather,” she’s previously said, adding that “the quality has lived up to my high expectations. I’ve had it for years now, and it still looks great.”
The J.Crew x Barbour coat, which retails for $425, is available to shop online now.
