The details

This highly-concentrated, reparative styling oil protects hair from heat and eliminates frizz. This oil, which works for all hair types, uses patented bond-building technology to rebuild broken and weakened hair bonds.

This restorative styling oil protects the hair strand structure to restore healthy appearance and texture.

Strengthening the hair, this oil has both long-term and immediate benefits, including increasing shine, softness and colour vibrancy. Ultra-hydrating, it minimizes flyaways and provides heat protection up to 450 °F.

First impressions

My entire life, I've always had a lot of fine hair — meaning it always takes a lot of time to dry and style. Due to this fact, I've always avoided oil products when it comes to styling, because I was convinced oils would make my hair greasy and weighed down.

During a visit with my hair stylist last winter, she suggested I introduce a restorative oil to my bleached, dry hair, which led me to Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil.

This oil doesn't leave a sticky residue in your hair like some heat protectants, so while I'm not someone who often blow dries her hair, my daily use of straighteners and curling wands aren't causing significant damage while this oil restores my hair to its healthiest state.

As someone who always thought styling oils were only to be used on wet hair, this oil works on both wet and dry hair — perfect whether you're styling after washing or touching up yesterday's look. In fact, when introducing this oil, I'd recommend using one to two drops in dry hair to determine how much product you need. Due to the high concentration of this formula, you don't need more than a few drops for a nice result.

This oil is the answer to staticky flyaways, smoothing down my hair no matter the frigid temperatures. If you like to air dry your hair like I do, use this oil on wet hair and let it dry for a smooth, soft result free of frizz and flyaways. In fact, it has become such a cupboard staple — even my husband uses it daily, massaging the product into his scalp to avoid seasonal dryness.

One pro tip courtesy of my stylist: use the oil every single day for consistently soft, hydrated and shiny hair. I simply rub two drops between my palms and then apply to the ends of my hair before running my straightener through to style. I can confidently say the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil has transformed my previously frizzy, dehydrated hair to beautifully smooth and soft.

'There's a shine I get from this oil that I don't get from my other more-expensive oils'

With 4.1 stars and more than 1,700 reviews, I'm not the only one who is obsessed with this transformative hair product.

"I have fine, bleached hair that is prone to frizz. I used two drops during a bad hair day, and it immediately smoothed frizz, and there's a shine I get from this oil that I don't get from my other more-expensive oils," shares one shopper.

"I use this the most out of every hair oil I have," echoes another shopper. "It is easily the best one."

"I have very fine hair and lots of products instantly weigh it down. This does not. I find it really helps keep my hair hydrated without making it feel dirty!" adds another.

Shoppers say that he biggest key to making the most of this product is determining just how much oil you need. Similar to what I found, reviews recommend easing into this oil — starting with a small amount, such as one to two drops.

"If you're trying to figure out how to use this, try smoothing a small amount over your hair at the end of your styling process, you will notice the shine and softness," recommends one fan.

"A little goes a long way!" says another.

'This is pure magic!'

Shoppers love how the oil immediately addresses frizz and flyaways, but the real perk of this hair oil is the bonding technology that strengthens hair over time.

"This is a life saver for your hair! I totally recommend," says a shopper. "It’s pricier than I would like to pay for a beauty product but it’s worth every penny."

"This is pure magic! My hair is fantastic after I use this oil — it is seriously a miracle product. I can’t believe it, but it’s true. I had dry hair and now it’s wonderful and soft. It’s the best oil on the market," raves another.

Verdict

If you're on the hunt for a restorative, strengthening and smoothing hair product, the Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Oil is one product you might want to try.

I recommend using minimal product to start because, while this oil is incredibly lightweight, it can weigh hair down if used in excess.
