Olivia Munn Shares Update in Her Breast Cancer Journey: 'I'm Doing Okay'
The actress, who was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023, posted a video detailing her "breast cancer timeline"
Olivia Munn is sharing an update in her breast cancer journey.
Speaking in a new video, posted on her Instagram page on Wednesday, Sept. 4, the actress, 44, revealed her breast cancer timeline after receiving messages from people who had previously asked her about it.
“I’ve gotten lots of DMs and questions about my breast cancer timeline so I thought that I should clearly lay it out for you guys,” she said. “I hope that by doing so it helps others who have gone through it or are going through it right now.”
“Maybe feel a little comforted and knowing that I’ve gone down the same path and I’m doing okay,” the Newsroom star, who was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023, added.
A written timeline of Munn’s breast cancer journey was then displayed on the screen.

“Jan 2022 2 mammograms, 2 ultrasounds: clear, Jan 2023 mammogram: clear, Feb 2023 genetic testing: 0% chance of genetic cancer, March 2023 Tyrer-Cuzik breast cancer assessment score: 37.3%,” the timeline read, before revealing that Munn had an MRI, ultrasound and biopsies in March and April 2023.
Later in April 2023, the X-Men: Apocalypse star received her bilateral breast cancer diagnosis, resulting in a "nipple delay, lymph node dissection and double mastectomy" the following month.
Munn then had egg retrieval in June 2023, breast reconstruction in September 2023, lupron treatment in November 2023, partial hysterectomy/oophorectomy in April 2024 and arimidex treatment in August 2024.
According to the Mayo Clinic, arimidex, which is also known as anastrozole, is used treat early hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.
Stating that she wasn’t going to go through each step of the timeline individually due to it being too long, Munn asked her followers to send any questions they had in the comments section.
“I will make videos answering as many as I can,” she said. “Also, I just wanted to say to everyone who has sent me a message or stopped me on the street when I’m out shopping, it really means so much to me and it’s been incredibly healing, so thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“My breast cancer timeline,” Munn added in the caption. “I’ve gotten a lot of questions about this and I’ve wanted to make this video for those asking for a while but I’ve been filming, finishing filming, running after a toddler and starting a new medication.”
She continued, “Thank you for your patience and understanding. 💕If you have any questions about my treatment or surgeries I’ve listed please put them in the comments.”
Back in May, Munn, who shares son Malcolm 2, with husband John Mulaney, told Vogue that she froze her eggs for after her diagnosis so she and the comedian, 42, have the opportunity to expand their family in the future. She had previously frozen her eggs at age 33 and 39.
“It's interesting because my 33-year-old eggs were great. My 39-year-old eggs? None of them worked," Munn told the outlet. "As you get older, one month can have great eggs, the other not so much."
"Clearly, the month we did at 39 was not a good month. After my diagnosis, we decided to try one more round of egg retrievals and hoped it was a good month. John and I talked about it a lot and we don't feel like we're done growing our family, but didn't know if I would have to do chemotherapy or radiation," she said.
