On Her Birthday, Bella Hadid Wore Chainmail, Pasties and Little Else

Bella Hadid basically wore her birthday suit to celebrate turning the big 2-0. On Sunday night, she was seen in a nearly sheer outfit going to New York City’s Up & Down nightclub to celebrate her birthday with her mother Yolanda Foster; her boyfriend The Weeknd; and a few of her friends including Hailey Baldwin, Shanina Shaik, Justine Sky and DJ Ruckus. Looking like a living time capsule for the decade in which she was born, the model wore a sheer chainmail crop top, a matching metal mesh and paillette mini skirt, a white fur coat, a silver top-handle bag, and Lucite heels. Or maybe she was trying to get a head start on the futuristic fashion we’ll all be wearing one day when robots take over.
OK so she didn’t go completely bare; she kept a few things hidden with a pair of silver star pasties and underwear.
We’re actually surprised bothered with pasties; in the September issue of French Vogue, Hadid freed the nipple by going completely nude for a black and white spread. Posting an image from the shoot on Instagram (but with a few flowers added for some extra coverage), she said: “#Freeingthenipple for our French Vogue cover with my brothers @mertalas & @macpiggott Thank you (sic) for opening my eyes to a new art form I love You! Thank you for the opportunity and experience @emmanuellealt @vogueparis and everyone for your support #LoveYourBody.”
Then there was the time she wore a simple-yet-sultry red dress with a hip-high split, spaghetti halter straps, and no back designed by Alexandre Vauthier.
As long as she really does love her body, we don’t care what she wears.
