The one thing you'll never see the Queen and Duchess of Cambridge wearing
The Queen and the Duchess of Cambridge don’t have a lot in common when it comes to style.
Although they both stick to the royal rules of no short skirts or cleavage on show, Kate favours much more modern silhouettes while the Queen sticks to her traditional skirt suits.
But there is one thing that Elizabeth and Kate share: a love for neutral nail varnish.
It’s unlikely it’s entirely down to personal choice as royal wardrobe rules dictate that no coloured nail varnish should be worn during public engagements.
The Queen has been wearing the same shade of nail varnish since 1989. (It’s Essie’s Ballet Slippers in case you’re wondering.)
The Duchess seems to have been inspired by the natural colour, wearing it for her 2011 wedding to Prince William and on countless occasions since.
However, Kate has been known to sport a ruby red pedicure on the rare occasions she gets her toes out in a strappy sandal.
Funnily enough, Meghan Markle’s first real public appearance with Prince Harry saw the actress wear a neutral colour on her nails.
Perhaps she is getting into the royal way of life after all. (Although we don’t think the Queen will take too much of a liking to her ripped jeans.)
