After months of anticipation, the biggest names in Hollywood and the biggest names in fashion converged on the red carpet of the 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. As fashion fans, we have to admit, the 2024 Oscars red carpet did not disappoint.

Jimmy Kimmel was tasked with hosting duties for the fourth time. The stars of "Oppenheimer" donned their best apparel to celebrate their film's 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Cillian Murphy for Best Actor, Robert Downey Jr. for Best Supporting Actor and Emily Blunt for Best Supporting Actress. "Poor Things" starring Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo scored 11 nominations followed by Martin Scorsese's "Killers of the Flower Moon," with 10 nominations.

Even though it was the top movie at the box office, "Barbie" earned eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Ryan Gosling and Best Supporting Actress for America Ferrera. The film missed out on Greta Gerwig for Best Director and Margot Robbie for her portrayal of the iconic doll.

While the celebrities were handing out the hardware, we scoured the red carpet for the biggest fashion hits and misses of the night — and we want Yahoo Canada readers to have their say.

Scroll down below to cast your vote and dub the best and worst dressed star from the 2024 Oscars! We will reveal who took the title of best and worst dressed with our readers tomorrow.

BEST: Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton

Stone and Louis Vuitton have a solid red carpet relationship, but Nicolas Ghesquière's team at the luxury French fashion house went above and beyond for her latest look. The "Poor Things" star wore a strapless mint coloured column gown with structured peplum detail that featured a subtle shell print jacquard fabric.

The elegant look featured a standout accessory, a 30.47-carat golden Sri Lankan sapphire and diamond necklace from Louis Vuitton High Jewelry collection.

WORST: Ariana Grande in Giambattista Valli

Are you a good stylist or a bad stylist? That's the question we asked when Grande stepped onto the Oscar red carpet in an overwhelming bubble dress by Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. It appears as though Grande's team is taking a page out of the "Barbie" press tour style book and opting for looks inspired by the singer's role as Glinda in the film adaptation of the musical "Wicked." Although we're all for paying homage to characters through fashion, the petite star's gown is overpowers her on the carpet.

BEST: Zendaya in Armani Privé

Fresh off of her press tour for "Dune 2," the 27-year-old actress traded in her sci-fi-inspired fashions for look that featured an exposed corset featuring gun metal paillettes and an embroidered palm-tree print on pink satin. Zendaya accessorized the look with a pair of bold pink drop earrings as well as a bracelet and matching ring by Bulgari.

WORST: Melissa McCarthy in Christian Siriano

Alexa, play "Poor Unfortunate Souls" by Melissa McCarthy.

There's nothing our team loves more than a pink and red colour combination, however McCarthy's Christian Siriano gown has left us a little confused. The pink taffeta on top of the red fabric sleeves, the ruching at the waist and the high neckline doesn't do McCarthy justice.

BEST: America Ferrera in Atelier Versace

Ferrera turned up the glamour to celebrate her first Oscar nomination for her role in "Barbie." Although she didn't take home the Best Supporting Actress award (that honour went to Da'Vine Joy Randolph), Ferrera's shimmering Atelier Versace gown and stunning diamond and ruby necklace made her a winner in our books.

WORST: Emily Blunt in Schiaparelli

Blunt celebrated her Best Supporting Actress nomination for "Oppenheimer" by wearing a gown that featured Barbie-inspired anatomy. The awkward underwear outline pulled focus from this otherwise gorgeous champagne gown that featured a gravity-defying structured bodice.

BEST: Lupita Nyong'o in Armani Privé

It's hard to believe this stunning gown has been waiting for four years to hit the red carpet. According to E! reporter Zanna Rassi, Nyongo's powder blue sequin gown with feather detail was made for the Oscar-winning actress in 2020. Nyong'o's look, which was reportedly a nod to her infamous blue Prada gown from 2014, look was worth the wait — and one we'll be dreaming about for another four years.

WORST: Margot Robbie in Versace

After months of anticipation for what we assumed would be her final "Barbie"-inspired gown, Robbie arrived to the 2024 Oscars dressed in something, well — boring. The "Barbie" producer and star's Versace gown isn't the worst look we've ever seen (not by a long shot) however, it was far from the red carpet spectacle we've come to expect from her and her stylist, Andrew Mukamal. Robbie returned to the real world of fashion when we weren't quite ready to say goodbye to Barbieland. Perhaps, this final look to promote the film is all too fitting of the film's heroine's decision to live an imperfect, boring, messy and wonderful life with us mere mortals.

BEST: Michelle Yeoh in Balenciaga

Jaws dropped when Yeoh arrived to the Oscars in a sparkling silver Balenciaga gown and black opera gloves. Yeoh, who took home the Best Actress Oscar in 2023, delivered leading lady levels of glamour in the one-shoulder look with bold shoulder detail and dramatic silver train as she prepared to pass the torch to another worthy woman to join her in Oscar infamy.

WORST: Cynthia Erivo in Louis Vuitton

Erivo, who stars as Elphaba alongside Ariana Grande in "Wicked," stayed true to her character's green skin by wearing a green leather gown by Louis Vuitton. While the look could have been a hit, the awkward ruffle detail was a little too reminiscent of Kristen Wiig's "lasagna dress" that in itself was was an Oscar fashion flop. The "Wicked" cast seems determined to follow the "Barbie" formula of method-dressing for their entire press tour — but they'll need to up their game if they want to make an impression on the masses.
