Outdoor entertainment restaurant coming to Johnson County, Lee’s Summit. Another closing
Kansas City-based 54th Street Scratch Grill & Bar will open two locations of its new entertainment spot and restaurant.
The updated concept, called Five Four Restaurant and Drafthouse, will offer the same scratch-made menu favorites, but with outdoor amenities.
In Lee’s Summit, Five Four is planning a spot at Highway 50 and Route 291, near the upcoming Q39 and Chick-fil-A. It will have two golf bays, two pickleball courts, yard games and outdoor seating. The restaurant will be 9,500 square feet inside and 10,000 square feet outside.
When the new Lee’s Summit location opens in late 2026, the chain will close its spot of 30 years at 815 SE Third St.
In Lenexa, Five Four is opening a spot in the Lenexa City Center at Scarborough and 87th streets. It won’t have pickleball, but it will have outdoor seating and yard games.
The City Center location’s targeted opening date is fall 2026.
“With adding the … gaming, it’s just another way for us to differentiate ourselves from the competition,” said CEO Michael Norsworthy.
The company has seven locations in the Kansas City metro. It also has spots in Dallas, San Antonio, St. Louis and Austin.
Norsworthy said the company will eventually rebrand all of its restaurants with the Five Four look and name. Not all of the old locations will have pickleball.
Its Zona Rosa location, 7200 NW 86th Terrace, has already made the switch. In 2021, it underwent a $2 million makeover to add pickleball courts and other amenities.
When looking for new locations, Norsworthy said the group will begin to prioritize locations with enough space to accommodate pickleball and other outdoor gaming options.
The menu at 54th Street includes ribs, rattlesnake pasta, filet mignon, salmon, chicken tenders, a Reuben sandwich and more.
The original 54th Street Grill location opened on North Oak Trafficway and Englewood Road in 1991.
