Outlander Actor Sam Heughan Just Shared a New Photo from Season 5
While yesterday was actor Sam Heughan's 39th birthday, today marks the anniversary of his Outlander character Jamie Fraser's birth.
Heughan celebrated the occasion by sharing a new, never-before-seen photo from the show's fifth season on his Instagram account. The picture features Jamie posing in the woods in a dark brown coat, with his supplies and horse nearby. Heughan captioned his post, "Happy Birthday JAMMF!!!! (Had a dram for you last night...)"

As fans of the show know, JAMMF stands for Jamie's full name, James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, and according to the official Outlander Twitter account, the Scotsman-turned-American colonist would be 298 years old today.
The Outlander cast is currently filming the show's fifth season, and fortunately for those who can't wait for the series to return, the actors have been generous in sharing sneak peeks of what's to come for the characters.
For example, last month, Starz released the first still from season five, which shows Jamie in that same coat standing next to his wife Claire, who is played by actress Caitriona Balfe, in front of a wagon in the woods.
The photo came along with the announcement that production on the season had officially started and a preview of what fans can expect in the episodes to come.
The network confirmed that the season will be based on the fifth book in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series, The Fiery Cross. Executive producer Matthew B. Roberts offered a vague summary of the season's plot.
"In Season Four, Jamie and Claire’s decision to remain in the New World changes the course of their life together. After being struck by the beauty of the North Carolina wilderness–untamed and uncultivated–they choose to call it home: Fraser’s Ridge," he said in a statement.
"However, what is a ‘dream’ for some is a ‘nightmare’ for others. Being at the center of the birth of America is often a bloody and violent and heartbreaking matter. Now, in Season Five, Jamie and Claire’s duty is not only to their loved ones, but to the community of settlers forming part of the ever-increasing Clan Fraser."
