Animal Lovers Are Sharing The Greatest Dog Names Of All Time
Everyone loves a cute dog, even more so when they have a cute name. I recently asked the BuzzFeed Community to share the best dog names they've ever heard. Here are some of my favorites:
1."Sherdog Bones the Dachshund."
2."Billy Corgan for a Corgi obviously."
3."My service dog's name is Ham Sam'mich but I call her Hammy. She's mostly Pekingese and Chihuahua and gets called a potato at least once a week. She's NOT a potato though. She's a Sam'mich! She's been with me for almost 13 years and is my best friend!"
4."Ozzy Pawsborne, the prince of barkness."
5."My Dalmatian is called Chips because my cat is called Fish. Both were born on the same day."
6."My little Pomeranian is about five pounds, and three years old. I named him Grrr. It was a hoot calling him in the park, 'Grrr, Grrr, Grrr!'"
7."I picked up an amazing rescue when I was in my 20s. I changed the spelling of his name after he tore up my roommate's new shoes and had to get her couch reupholstered. He spelled his name: Wrecks. Best dog ever!"
8."When I first got my dog, I wanted to name him Elvis Pup-sley! I still think it's one of the best names out there."
9."Mini Golden Doodle named the Dood."
10."One of my coworkers has a French Bulldog named Beef Stew."
11."Jake Ryan! I got a puppy who was just as dreamy as the original '80s Jake Ryan."
12."There's a dog named Barkavius in my neighborhood. Another one is named Tater Tot."
13."I had a Great Dane as a kid named Didhebite. Sweetest dog in the world who would never harm anyone, so the name didn't suit him, but it was a funny name, as it were!"
14."My tiny Chihuahua is named Macho."
15."I always wanted to use Snarles Barkley or Thurston Howl."
16."A friend had a Rottweiler named Romulus. It was a perfect fit."
17."A Shih Tzu named Lolli Pup."
18."Bunsen for a Bernese Mountain Dog, also known as Berners."
19."Jabarkus."
—Sean E. from New Jersey
20."My son named their dog Mister so that when he went to the vet he'd be treated with respect."
—Anonymous from California
21."Lady Vader for a female black Lab."
22."Queso. It was the first word my stray Corgi understood!"
23."Repo. We got him from the pound."
—Bill from Oregon
24."We've got an adorable Westie and Schnauzer mix called Indiana Bones."
—Jacq from Auckland, New Zealand
25."Stevie Licks."
26."Beaglejuice."
27."A Corgi named Hobbit. He grumbles when you try to take his toy, too."
—Anonymous from Ohio
28."A Beagle and a Dachshund mix named Limo because he looked like a stretched-out Beagle!"
—KB from Colorado
29."Merry Puppins was the name of my first Afghan hound. I got her just before Christmas so that explains the Merry spelling. She was magical, so Poppins became Puppins when she was a puppy. She rode in the passenger seat of my MGB and turned more than one guy's head! Merry Puppins made it to the age of 15 and was the best dog ever!"
30.And finally, "We adopted a little shelter dog and his brother wandering the streets of Reno, Nevada. He was under five pounds and had all his fur shaved off since he had come in with long, dirty, matted hair. We wanted a dog that looked like a rescue and he did. We named him Rescue to promote the idea of 'adopt don't shop.' It is so great to have those signs that say, 'I love my rescue.'"
