Pamela Anderson, 56, says her sons were 'horrified' when she went without a glam squad: 'I'm a tomboy'

Pamela Anderson is giving fans a glimpse into her natural beauty routine. In an intimate feature by High Snobiety, the Canadian "Baywatch" star showed off a "more natural" side of herself, different from the public persona fans have known and loved.

"My face gets more interesting with age," the 56-year-old told the outlet. "I'm a tomboy! I was actually always a tomboy growing up."

Her approach to beauty nowadays is remarkably hands-on; she's dubbed it her "harvested" beauty regime. "I make rose oil, which I do with rose hips. I'm interested in my Epsom salts, olive oils and shea butter," Anderson detailed.

This transition to a makeup-free lifestyle is more than skin deep for Anderson. It marks a "healing experience," and a move away from the ageist, societal beauty standards. Anderson's makeup-less return to the public eye, especially in the lead-up to her memoir, "Love, Pamela" in 2023, has been met with some incredulity from her family and colleagues.

Before attending Paris Fashion Week last year, Anderson recalled her sons insisting she have a makeup artist and stylist help her prepare for public appearances: "My boys were like, 'Mom, you must have a glam team.' And my agents were like, 'You have to have a glam team! Where's the stylist?'... And they were just horrified."

Despite the pushback, Anderson made her bold choice. She most recently shared a series of stunning, makeup-free photos taken for the new magazine feature on Instagram. Fans met the post with supportive comments, praising her natural beauty.

"You look happier than ever," one person commented.

"I want to be like Pam when I grow up," someone quipped.

"You look so much better than ever, Pam, because we can see the difference, you seem happy and completely self-confident," penned another.

"Your inner peace is showing! You're truly glowing!" an Instagram user added.

Anderson attributed her decision to stop wearing makeup — or wearing it minimally — to the passing of her friend and longtime makeup artist, Alexis Vogel in 2019. Anderson opened up to Elle, explaining: "She was the best. And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it's just better for me not to wear makeup."

She added it's also in her character to "go against the grain."

In February 2023, Anderson shared an open letter to her fans via her newsletter about shifting her focus away from beauty as she ages.

The Canadian actress pointed out health and wellness are her main concern these days. "As I get older, I become wiser and think less and less about looking better, and more about health and wellness," Anderson wrote. "More and more often, I look in the mirror and grin and giggle with pride rather than cry."

She added she recognizes herself more. "I treasure my strangeness. I like to challenge beauty, the myth — especially now, I'm free, I've learned. Beauty truly comes from within. It is proven time and again," she shared. "In spite of all you might hear or take to heart, you are a beautiful creature given to the planet."
