Pamela Anderson has called for TV makers to stop making reality TV shows.

The former Baywatch star has called them ‘an epidemic of ugliness’, and said that appearing on them leaves stars feeling ‘used, dirty, and with no feeling of accomplishment’.

Anderson has featured in a number of reality shows in the past, including Bigg Boss, the Indian version of Big Brother, Promi Big Brother, the German version of Big Brother, Dancing With The Stars (the US, Argentinean, and French versions) and Dancing On Ice in the UK.

Tweeting yesterday, she said: “Did I enjoy being on a reality show? Please no more reality shows
or reality stars.

“Even France is polluted with them – it’s an epidemic of ugliness, superficial competitions,
desperate and exploitive – for the artist.

“You are usually bullied into doing TV like this by agents fighting over commissions – you’re left without any great amount of joy or money – you feel used, dirty, and with no feeling of accomplishment.”

She later added that ‘unless of course – you attempt to find any meaning or redemption by donating all to charity. It’s how I forgave myself’.

How reality shows are made, and the duty of care programme makers have for participants after the cameras have stopped rolling, have come under increasing scrutiny in recent weeks.
