Paravel is an American company that makes fashionable, sustainable and durable items for travel, everything from suitcases to backpacks and packing cubes. It’s best-known for the stain-resistant canvas they use and hand-painted monogram designs. Better yet — shoppers can save 25 per cent off sitewide with the code SUNSHINE — but only until tomorrow, May 15.
If you’re considering stocking up on a new suitcase, carryall, backpack or handbag ahead of the summer holidays, I wanted to give you an honest review of the Paravel purchases I have made, so you can see if they’re right for you.
After reading many rave reviews of the products, and watching a mesmerizing video of the stain and water-resistant technology in action, I decided to purchase two bags — the Weekender and the Upland Backpack (which has, sadly, been discontinued), both in Domino Black with the hand-painted monogram in green.
As soon as it arrived, the Weekender became my go-to bag for travel. My laptop fits in it comfortably, with tons for room for any beauty products, clothes, shoes, notebooks, chargers and more. The sleek beige canvas with the black leather details is timeless and I get compliments on my bag everywhere I go. There is also a panel on the pack of the bag that easily slides onto the handle of a suitcase for easy travelling.
Although Paravel promotes its stain-resistant canvas, I was definitely still a bit skeptical and was curious to see if the cream colour would really hold up. I’ve taken my bags on planes, trains, buses, subways, in the snow and the rain, and they still look great. The company recommends that you use a gentle household soap and a soft cloth to work through any stubborn messes on your bags, but I haven’t had to test this yet in the year I’ve had the bags.

If you’re contemplating spending the extra $65 on a hand-painted monogram, I don’t regret my decision to splurge. The sophisticated, unique design was definitely worth the price tag. As a Canadian, I also appreciate that Paravel calculates any duties and taxes at checkout, so there aren’t any unexpected fees when the items arrive.
I’m incredibly pleased with my Paravel purchases and I already added more items on my list now that there’s an extra discount. If you’re looking to snag up some of these cult-favourite picks, I’ve rounded up my favourites below.
