Paulina Porizkova says it took 58 years to realize she didn't need 'Prince Charming'

Paulina Porizkova is celebrating eight months of love.

On Tuesday, the supermodel took to Instagram with a heartwarming post commemorating her eight-month anniversary with television writer Jeff Greenstein.

Alongside the romantic photo of Porizkova smiling and affectionately linking arms with her beau, she penned a caption reflecting on her journey to learning what she wants and needs out of a relationship.

"It took me 58 years to understand that what I wanted and needed was not Prince Charming charging into my life on a white steed to rescue me with his love, but an equal," she began.

She continued by acknowledging the importance of her past relationships in shaping her understanding of love.

"This I learned from my previous relationships, so in a way, it wasn't time wasted even if it felt like it at times," she wrote. "I also had to figure out who I was so I'd know what an equivalent was. This I learned from being single, and doing a lot of self work.

"It was this woman who met her equal — eight months ago. He likes to celebrate every moment, so here's to you, my love."

Greenstein replied to Porizkova's heartfelt message in the comments section: "Luckiest guy in the world, honoured to be called your equal. I adore you, my darling."

Fans swooned over the happy couple and applauded Porizkova's perspective on the self-discovery-to-finding-love pipeline.

"I'm so happy for two people I don't know, but am rooting for. Now that is love. Beautiful to watch," an Instagram user wrote.

In August, the 58-year-old shared a set of photos of herself sweetly posing alongside Greenstein, paired with a message shedding light on their love story and proving that timing really is everything.

The "No Filter: The Good, the Bad and the Beautiful" author explained while she and Greenstein wish they could have met earlier and have discussed hypothetically meeting at different times in their lives, she knows they met at the perfect time.

"We wish we had met earlier. Much earlier," Porizkova penned. "We talk about scenarios when we meet as 18 and 19, or in our 30s.

"When we unravel these wistful thoughts, we find we met exactly at the right time. Because time is what has made us perfect for one another right now."
