The Peach Truck is back in Lexington, but now it has big-time competition

The infamous and fan favorite, The Peach Truck, will be making a return to Lexington this summer providing fresh peaches to buy. However, there is a new peach competitor coming to town that will bring stiff competition to the classic summer fruit.

Yes, two peaches trucks are making their way to the Lexington area this summer to provide fresh Georgia peaches to customers. Here’s what to know when deciding where to purchase peaches from.

Kroger Sweet Georgia Peaches

New to the scene is Kroger Sweet Georgia Peaches, “a convenient, new way for customers to get their favorite summer fruit at their local Kroger store this season,” according to a Kroger press release.

Kroger peaches are directly sourced from Georgia farms, particularly the Pearson farm which is a five generation peach farm. Their peaches are “juicy, sweet and give flavor to every summer,” the Kroger press release said.

Pearson Farms has supplied Kroger with fresh peaches for more than 50 years and provides guaranteed freshness. But now you can buy more.

Customers can purchase a 12-pound crate of peaches for $19.99 at any Kroger Peach event across the Commonwealth. The truck events began May 30 and continue to August 11, making 60 total stops, with multiple in the Lexington area. Where to find The Peach Truck in Kentucky

Not to be outdone, The Peach Truck will once again be in and around Kentucky and the Lexington area starting May 31. A complete list of dates, times and locations can be found at thepeachtruck.com/pages/where-we-are-this-week.

The Peach Truck, which routinely makes tour stops in Lexington, began in 2012 by Nashville residents Jessica and Stephen Rose. The fresh Georgia peaches are grown in Stephen’s hometown, also sourced from the Pearson Farm in Georgia.

“Stephen spent his childhood experiencing life on a fifth generation farm,” a press release from The Peach Truck said. “He could not believe when he moved to Nashville, the scarcity of fresh peaches.”

When Jessica tried a fresh Georgia peach for the first time, the couple made It their mission to provide the delicacy to as many people as they could and started by bringing the fruit to the Nashville area.

By 2015, the couple was providing fresh peaches to Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
