Just when you thought the Miss Universe 2015 pageant couldn’t get any more dramatic, Miss USA, Olivia Jordan is speaking out about the death threats she and her family have received since the airing of Sunday’s show.

“I am used to having people throw shade my way, but now people are threatening my family who are literally the most kind-hearted people on the planet,” she said in an Instagram post. “They have nothing to do with any of this and deserve to be left alone.”

Jordan came under fire after showing support for Miss Philippines when it was discovered that the wrong winner had been announced.

“For the record, I didn’t laugh at anyone in the pageant,” she goes on to say. “I reacted to an uncomfortable and bizarre situation by seeing the positive. If I had been standing next to Miss Colombia I would have grabbed her and cried for her and the injustice that occurred. Instead, I was standing next to the winner and had the bizarre opportunity to tell her that she was the new Miss Universe.”

Jordan claims she immediately found Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arevalo backstage and gave her a hug telling her she had “bigger things in store.” And to her haters, she says,

“And as many times as you tell me, I’m not going to kill myself and the fact that you can even write that to another person makes me very sad for you. And to all the incredible supporters throughout this situation, please simply report the hateful comments, don’t give them the satisfaction of responding and getting sucked into their hatred, let’s stay positive.”

Jordan was named second runner up at this year’s Miss Universe competition and is the first woman from Oklahoma to be crowned Miss USA.

In a separate Instagram posted Wednesday, she remarked on her experience saying,

“There can only be one woman that represents the Universe, although there were many that would have been phenomenal in the role (what an inspiring group of women). I have no doubt @piawurtzbach will represent us all with class and grace and be absolutely incredible this year and beyond. So for all 79 contestants that I’m sure other big things are in store for, I look forward to seeing what our futures will hold.”
