People Are Dumping Out Hundreds Of Dollars Worth Of Liquor In The Club... As A Flex
If you’re looking to drop an egregious amount of money, there’s no better place to do it than at a nightclub's VIP table. The cost of having a table alone can be hundreds, even thousands of dollars—just to have a place to sit down and enjoy your drink.
But the real moneymaker for nightclubs is bottle service. Whether you’re buying well liquor or top-shelf bottles, venues mark up alcohol so much that it rivals the price of fancy furniture. Investing in a bottle, complete with sparklers and plenty of fanfare, is a flex in and of itself.
But that’s not enough, apparently. Because an emerging trend ups the ante by taking the most expensive bottle you can buy…and then dumping it all out on the floor.
TikTok user @jord.an2x_ posted a video showing how “bottle wars” are wasting people’s precious booze.
In the video, we see people emptying three different bottles of Don Julio 1942, which retails at a store for around $150. The biggest flex, we’d argue, are the several bottles of Clase Azul tequila getting dumped on the nightclub floor. We may be guilty of buying this tequila to repurpose the gorgeous hand-painted bottle, but we’d at least drink the liquor first.
The online reaction to the video is largely critical of the practice. One user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “Lol definitely a healthy alternative to actually drinking.”
Other commenters blasted the trend as being unnecessarily wasteful, with many sending their condolences to the club’s custodial crew for having to mop up the booze.
The viral video may display a “war” between New Yorkers and Baltimoreans, but some users pointed out that neither side truly emerged victorious.
“The only winners here are the club owners,” someone wrote.
Another chimed in with, “Club owners are laughing all the way to the bank.”
