People are freaking out over this pic of Victoria Beckham kissing her daughter on the mouth
Mom-shaming continues to take the internet by storm. It has constantly affected Chrissy Teigen, who specifically received a ton of backlash when she went out to dinner 10 days after giving birth to her daughter Luna. Even more recently, Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County’s Kristin Cavallari faced an onslaught of negative comments when her Instagram followers felt that her two young boys were “too thin.”
Victoria Beckham is now the latest celeb who’s experiencing mom-shaming firsthand.
On Sunday, in honor of her daughter Harper’s 5th birthday, Victoria posted a sweet photo of herself and Harper taking a dip in the pool. They’re adorably wearing matching sunglasses and Victoria can be seen planting a kiss on Harper’s lips:

Though the photo harmlessly depicts a beautiful moment shared between Victoria and Harper, many commentors did not feel that way. According to Entertainment Tonight, one commentor wrote, “Eww sorry I’m old fashioned it looks like they making out,” while another stated: “It’s nice but you’re not supposed to kiss you’re children on the lips. I’m not trying to be rude but it’s true.” These are just two out of over 8,000 comments.
BBC even felt it necessary to contact social etiquette expert Liz Brewer, so she could weigh in on the matter. Here’s what she had to say about the kiss shared between Victoria and her daughter: “Normally with a member of your family you don’t kiss on the lips unless it’s your husband … I would be uncomfortable doing that and I think most people would be. If she feels it’s appropriate, so be it. I wouldn’t say it sets a particularly good example.”
Though many do not agree with Victoria’s decision to post this specific photo, there are countless moms and dads out there who fully support Victoria and feel that this type of kiss should not be sexualized. In fact, many of these parents are posting photos of themselves kissing their children on the lips to prove it:
