21 Innocent And Heartwarming Secrets That Might Just Put A Smile On Your Face
Usually, whenever we do Reddit or BuzzFeed Community members' posts about people's secrets, the secrets tend to be, well, salacious or kinda horrible. However, there are lots of secrets people keep that are actually pretty innocent.
Recently, Redditor hovelybeatmalls was interested in those harmless secrets when they asked: "What's something innocent you're hiding?"
The thread got over a thousand comments, with secrets ranging from silly to downright heartwarming. Below are the top and best responses:
1."I have a drawer in my bedroom with almost every card I've ever gotten. When I'm having a bad day, I'll take a few out and read them. They're just the generic store ones, but there's always a handwritten message, and it's a nice reminder that, at some point, people have loved me."
2."I have an old co-worker who went on disability years ago, and we are friends on social media. A very kind and generous person who got unlucky. Whenever they post about something they are looking for on the marketplace, I send it to them from Amazon. It ain't much, but it makes me happy. I hope it makes them happy."
3."I have a second YouTube account to encourage my YouTuber friend with positive comments throughout their rise. They still don’t know one of their favorite fans is me."
4."Every time I visit my GF, I hide a little money in her apartment. Sometimes she calls me and is excited that she found some money at home. I earn a lot more than she does, and she would never accept money, even if she really needs it."
5."I still have a stash of my childhood stuffed animals tucked away in a closet. They hold so many memories, and I can’t bring myself to part with them — even if they’re just sitting there collecting dust."
6."I secretly love 'bad' pop music when I'm alone. It's a guilty pleasure that makes me happy. Does anyone else have embarrassing musical taste?"
7."I keep a stash of nostalgic snacks from my childhood hidden in my pantry. It's my secret comfort food supply for those rough days when I need a little pick-me-up."
8."Building a 1969 Chevy C10 truck for my dad. It’s been hiding in my uncle's garage. It’s been his dream truck since he was a kid. It will be done by December, hopefully."
9."When I have moved from state to state for work. I blend in so well because I pick a town from that state and tell people that I was born and raised there. I learn everything about that area and town. Just so nobody treats me like an outsider. Florida, Missouri, and Tennessee have been the most friendly. Kentucky was fun, and so was Georgia."
10."I have a collection of old concert tickets I never show anyone."
11."I have to make eye contact with my cats as I close the door to my place when leaving. They are my sons and I: 1.) Want to make sure they’re solid before I go. 2.) Tell them I love them 3.) Take a visual snapshot in my mind that all is well at home so that I can revisit it whenever I need to settle my OCD."
12."I sometimes eat baby formula in its powder form straight from the box because that shit's delicious. My wife doesn't know."
13."My daughter's artwork. My wife finds ways to sneak things in the trash after getting a digital pic of it. If I need to clear the clutter I have a filing drawer where I keep her art instead of getting rid of it."
14."Every month, I pick a charity and donate $200 to it. I pick a theme sometimes — like, for June, it’s Pride, so I give to the Rainbow Railroad. In November, for Remembrance Day, I send it to a seniors veterans' hospital, and they use it for little 'wishes' — they have going to the movies, or getting a haircut, or new slippers, just little comfort things, usually. If there’s no obvious theme for the month, a food bank or animal shelter gets the donation. They can do more good with the funds than I can spending it on crappy takeout or something equally stupid."
15."Years ago, when the pandemic just started, I was living with this roommate who I really did not like. He was kind of territorial and was very bad about sharing the space, including common areas, with me and my husband. We had just gotten our $1,200 checks at that time, and I wasn't sure what to do with mine. Fast forward a couple of months later, he had started a fundraiser campaign to try to pay back a past-due balance for a storage unit that had a lot of his stuff in it. He owed about $1,800. He had only raised $900, and there was only one day left before his fundraiser when the stuff in the storage unit was going to be auctioned off."
16."When I go to work, I leave the house earlier than I would need to, just to spend some 10–15 minutes feeding sparrows that usually frolic not far from my home. It became something of a ritual for me, and it feels almost meditative to watch those small birds happily pecking at the seeds I throw them."
17."Once in a blue moon, I'll feel secure enough to flap my arms, no, not in the cute Angels in the Outfield way, but in a weird, creepy way. Sometimes I just get so full of emotions that I can't help it."
18."I hate scallops. My wife loves scallops, and occasionally, she gets really excited about having them for dinner. I do the cooking in the house and she tells me how much she likes how I cook them. Honestly, I just sear them in a pan with a little oil and season them with salt and pepper. I don’t like the taste of them or the texture of them, but I love how happy she gets when I put a plate full of them in front of her and her complimenting my cooking just sends me over the moon. So, I choke down a few scallops for her. I’d eat an ocean full of scallops for her, though."
19."I have an anonymous [Instagram] account, so I have the ability to comfort people without having the problem of them trying to guess my intentions."
20."The hospital wristband that the nursery puts on babies when they are born. I've had my daughter's in my wallet for 19 years. The name on it isn't legible anymore, but I fully plan on keeping it there until I no longer carry a wallet."
21.And lastly, "I’m a 47-year-old guy and I love wearing a unicorn onesie."
