Phoebe Dynevor ditches her trademark red hair for a bleach blonde shag
Besides being the social season's diamond, Bridgerton actor Phoebe Dynevor is best known for her trademark red hair... Well, that was until today. No longer is she the strawberry blonde debutante-turned-Duchess Daphne Bridgerton we all know and love but instead a chic and luxe cover star with a transformative bleach blonde shag haircut. Yep, I audibly gasped, too.
Over the weekend, Phoebe posted a three-part carousel on Instagram to debut the recent cover of the Telegraph Luxury, which she features. For the editorial shoot, Phoebe underwent a major hair makeover, with hairstylist to the stars Dayaruci giving her a blonde wet shag – styled in a wet look, no less.
Her long tamed chestnut tresses have been replaced with a shoulder-length punkier 'do, complete with eyelash-grazing bangs.
Unrecognisable, much?
Now, despite its British connotations (get your mind outta the gutter!), in this context, a shag haircut consists of rock 'n' roll layers. Traditionally these lengths hit between the collarbone and chest, but frame the face with shape and texture. Think: Mick Jagger's iconic look circa 1975.
And with that said, there's no denying that together, Dayaruci and Phoebe have nailed the look.
However, before you go and make like Phoebe with a dramatic cut alike, it's worth noting that in the caption of her post, Phoebe notes that this shoot took place earlier this year in May. So, one can only assume that her blonde shag was achieved via a wig, seeing as she was recently spotted rocking copper lengths at the fourth annual Academy Museum Gala (October 19).
Alas, permanent or not, this hairstyle is certainly one for the books and a winter inspiration if I ever did see one!
