Pillsbury's New Christmas Cookie Is Going Viral For The Wrong Reasons

The best part of any holiday isn’t spending time with family. It’s not taking a day off from work. It’s discovering a new box of Pillsbury cookie dough at the grocery store. There’s no better way to get into the festive spirit by baking a batch of the printed and colorful cookies (or just eating them straight out of the box, no judgement).

You may already be familiar with some of the brand's seasonal designs: reindeers, snowmen, Christmas trees, and Buddy the Elf’s hat. Pillsbury just added another adorable brand to their holiday lineup…but the public’s reaction is likely not what they expected.

The Instagram account Snackolator shared the newest Grinch-themed cookies that will be hitting supermarket shelves soon, featuring the outline of the Grinch’s head and a heart growing three sizes. Fans loved the heart design, but the other part? Not so much.

People are split on what the green shape is even meant to represent—with some arguing that it’s the Grinch’s head while others claiming that it is, in fact, a Christmas tree. But the shape also resembles a third, decidedly less festive thing.

“I’m so sorry but the Grinch head on the cookie looks like poop from a butt,” one user commented.

Another added, “Cute concept but doesn't look like the grinch, looks like green poop.”

"Green Grinch poop," another wrote.

And upon closer look, they kind of have a point. Perhaps some post-baking decorations (like adding eyes and a mouth) could make these cookies look more Grinch-y than stinky.

What do you think? How do you feel about Pillsbury’s new design?
