One flier is sharing how they unexpectedly made a little profit on their recent trip to Austin.

On Tuesday, March 18, a traveler took to Reddit to reveal how they became $150 richer during a four-and-a-half-hour nonstop flight from New York City to Texas.

“While boarding, two guys came up to my row and asked if anyone in an aisle or window would swap so they could sit together; they both had the middle seats on opposite sides of the row and they offered $80,” the original poster (OP) began.

After everyone else remained quiet, the OP, who was sitting in one of the aisle seats, considered it but rejected the offer at first. “One of them sat down next to me and I think I mentioned how they might get lucky and one of the other seats around us would stay empty (we were in the back of the plane),” they wrote.

The middle seat passenger then upped the ante: “The guy next to me asked if I would swap for $150. I thought about it and said yes. We swapped and his buddy venmo'd me before take off."

"Boom, easiest $150 I've ever made!," the OP wrote.

But the other passengers’ show of gratitude might have gone further.

The OP revealed that when the flight attendant came around with the food and beverage cart, “the guy I swapped with asked if I wanted anything to drink?”

“I was confused and just wanted water but maybe I could have gotten a free glass of wine out of the deal too,” the user wrote. They concluded, “I guess the lesson here is everyone has a price,” followed by a crying laughing emoji.

People flocked to the comments to say they also would have taken the deal.

One user even shared a similar story: “Someone once paid me $100 to switch from an aisle to a window. No brainer for me.”

Another added, "I’m small enough to fit in the middle well. For $150 and a drink, I’d take this deal. Congratulations!"

"This makes total sense and seems like it was a win for everyone," one person wrote.

While this passenger may have reaped the benefits of their unexpected seat swapping interaction, Travel expert, writer and advisor, Nicole Campoy Jackson previously told PEOPLE that travelers should never anticipate that other passengers might be willing to switch seats.

"Generally speaking, don’t board a plane expecting passengers to shift for you, especially if your seat is not as comfortable as (or more than) theirs," Jackson said.

She also advised that it’s always best to communicate with a flight attendant if a passenger needs help settling a seat swapping or stealing situation as they often have access to more information about the flight than passengers do.
