Popcorn toppings bar to open in Myrtle Beach, SC area. Flavors include whiskey and caramel

Popcorn is one of America’s most popular snacks.

And that snack has been elevated over the years with different flavors and toppings.

Now, a Myrtle Beach area company, Coastal Corn Gourmet Popcorn, is planning to open up what is believed to be the first popcorn toppings bar on the Grand Strand.

It is located at 997 Highway 17 Business S., Unit A, in Surfside Beach, and will open on Aug. 14, with a grand opening at 1 p.m.

The family-owned business offers handcrafted sweet and savory gourmet popcorn in unique flavors, as well as old-fashioned caramel.

Owner Kimberly Ondechek came up with the idea of a popcorn toppings bar for the company’s first brick and mortar building.

Popcorn will be made on site and customers can choose their flavor of popcorn, as well as toppings, and then sit down and eat their treat there.

Flavors include caramel, bourbon and whiskey, including Fireball, Ondechek said. Toppings offered will be chocolate, white chocolate, candies and cereal.

The company has been in operation for five years, selling wholesale to vendors, parties and weddings across the U.S., according to Ondechek. The new place will allow the company to manufacture its products on site, she said.

In addition to popcorn, the store will also sell different peanuts and candy.
