A popular Fort Worth seafood restaurant is out in Southlake. But here’s where it’ll move

Just when a new Rockfish Seafood Grill is gaining fans in Fort Worth, the Southlake location is closing.

An anchor for 23 years in Southlake Town Square after moving from Colleyville, the Rockfish at 228 State St. will close June 19.

Dallas-based Rockfish will seek a new location in Grapevine, Keller, Roanoke or Southlake, company president Mark Maddock said Tuesday.

Town Square did not offer Rockfish a new lease, he said.

“Closing a location that we’ve been in for 25 years is heartbreaking,” he said.

A Fort Worth Rockfish opened two months ago at 6333 Camp Bowie Blvd., in a former pizzeria and burger grill in front of The Lunch Box cafe.

It’s helped turn Camp Bowie Boulevard into Seafood Street, counting midprice seafood at Fitzgerald or Lucile’s, oysters at Hudson House, fried catfish at Lisa’s and old-school fish-and-chips at Zeke’s.

The Fort Worth restaurant was completely redesigned from the previous tenants. It’s a new, sleek design for Rockfish.

“We love the area and feel that the new look we are presenting will fit in any area going forward,” Maddock said.

The Fort Worth location’s top menu items are the fish-and-chips and the Santa Fe fried fish tacos, along with grilled or blackened platters, he said.
