If there’s a comfy sneaker out there, I’m buying it. Maybe it’s the fact that I broke my ankle in two places almost a decade ago, maybe it’s because these days I’m walking a minimum of three miles a day. Whatever the case, I’m obsessed with finding sneaker after sneaker to cushion my feet through those 10,000 steps.

While my closet may be in danger of becoming overrun, I honestly don’t see any immediate stopping point to my sneaker-buying infatuation. My beloved Kizik Athens sneakers are, of course, in high rotation, but I like to give them a break sometimes, too. I plan on restocking my sneaker collection with these five styles from a host of celeb-loved and cult favorite brands — some of which are even on sale before Black Friday starts.

5 Comfy Sneakers I’m Adding to My Cart:

Cariuma + KonMari x Marie Kondo OCA Low Sneakers

Cariuma

Cariuma

$89

Cariuma recently launched yet another buzzy sneaker collection, this time with professional organizer (and joy-sparker) Marie Kondo. The new OCA Low collection includes four different colors and prints; my heart immediately gravitated toward Marie Kondo Rose, a pretty pale pink with miniature white stars. The lace-up sneakers are made with a soft, breathable cotton upper come in sizes 5 to 13, with half sizes available. They also feature a Mamona oil and cork insole, recycled plastic and organic cotton laces, and a natural rubber sole.

I’m already planning to wear these to my weekly trivia nights — they’ll be comfortable for the almost two mile walk there and back, and the starry print will bring my team a little extra luck. Talk about something sparking joy.

Cushionaire Score Lace-Up Sneakers

Amazon

Amazon

$50

$45

For a white sneaker with a little pizazz, I’m turning to the Cushionaire Score Sneakers this season. The brand’s Feather slides are already on regular rotation in my apartment thanks to their Comfort Foam technology, so I’m excited to try a pair of sneakers with that same pillow-soft feel.

I love that these sneakers are white, but have cream patchwork detailing for added visual interest. (Though, if you’re not a fan of white sneakers, they also come in three other colorblock varieties including black, pink, and blue). The lace-up style is somehow substantial yet sleek, and the vegan leather is water-resistant (perfect for the impending rain Los Angeles tends to get each winter). They come in sizes 6 to 11, with both half and wide sizes available. Shoppers say they are “comfortable, functional, and cute” and “have tons of cushion when walking.” I’m also intrigued by this shopper who has an old ankle injury like mine and says these “do the trick” for cushioning and support around the ankle. Consider them purchased.

Hoka Clifton 9 Running Shoes

Nordstrom

Nordstrom

$145

I’m not a runner. I wasn’t before my ankle injury, and I’m certainly not now. But I have to admit that these Hoka running shoes make me want to start. I’ve been told by multiple people that Hoka sneakers are the most comfortable ones ever. Among those singing their praises are my dad, neighbor, best friend, and even an old friend from high school. I suppose that means it’s time to get on board.

The Clifton 9 seems like a great place to start, since the ninth iteration of the brand’s popular shoe is engineered with responsive foam, a plush heel, and a breathable knit upper. They also feature Hoka’s special technology that helps the feet propel forward while maintaining a smooth stride. (My old physical therapist would definitely like that.) Available in sizes 5 to 13 (with half sizes in some colors), they come in a host of colors and patterns — 13, in fact, including basic black, sleek white, bright blue and orange, and vibrant pink. Whether I’m walking around a theme park or getting my 10,000 steps in my neighborhood, this is definitely a style I’m excited to try.

Veja V-10 Sneakers

Zappos

Zappos

$195

$137

Jennifer Garner. Meghan Markle. Alexandra Daddario. Reese Witherspoon. Kate Middleton. It seems I’ll be in pretty good company when I grab my first pair of Veja sneakers. I’ve been curious about them for a long time — and it stands to reason, since so many celebs love them — but, as yet, haven’t slipped on a pair of my very own.

Available in 15 color combinations, select options are up to 30 percent off at Zappos right now. The leather sneakers come in sizes 6 to 13, and feature organic cotton lining, soles made from wild rubber originating from the Amazonian forest, and emblazoned “V” logos at each side. I can’t wait to team them with a black minidress and faux fur jacket. There are other Veja styles currently on sale, too, including the Campo, Dekkan, and Venturi, so I have a feeling this won’t be my first purchase from the brand.

New Balance Fresh Foam X 1080v13 Sneakers

New Balance

New Balance

$165

New Balance has long been synonymous for me with comfort — I’ve bought multiple pairs from the brand over the years. I already have the v12 of this sneaker, so I obviously need the latest v13 version, too.

I’m always a fan of breathable mesh uppers for sneakers, so this New Balance style immediately caught my eye. They come in six different colors, including a light gray and violet, black with white soles, and allover white with metallic silver trim. They’re available in sizes 5-13, with half sizes, and the brand’s Fresh Foam X midsole helps provide cushioning without extra weight. The sole is on the chunkier side, but for an ’80s-inspired sneaker that hearkens back to my childhood, it really can’t be beat. Shoppers say the foam is “so squishy and comfortable,” feel like you’re “walking on clouds,” and are “such a game changer.”
