If Kayleigh Kelley is one thing, it isn’t fat. The three-time NQ NPC Bikini competitor and Magnum athlete just happens to be pregnant – 36 weeks pregnant, to be exact.

But when a number of her followers took it upon themselves to refer to her as “chubby,” the mom-to-be was reduced to tears. Frustrated, she took to Instagram to speak out about the body shaming.

“Since the beginning of my pregnancy I’ve struggled with what others think is OK to say to me,” she writes.

She describes how commenters immediately expressed their opinions of her body, saying things like, “Your body will never be the same,” “You need to eat more your baby is going to malnourished,” “How’s my fat friend?” and “Good luck getting back to pre-pregnancy.”

But the one comment that really pushed her over the edge was, “You’re chubby, I’ve never seen you chubby, it’s funny!”

While Kelley isn’t naive to how much her body has changed over the last nine months – she regularly posts side-by-side comparisons of her pre-pregnancy and current body – she doesn’t think it’s OK that others feel it’s their place to comments on her body.

“That was the last of what I could handle on the way home with my husband I started crying (which is SUPER rare for me),” she says. “Since when did it become OK to say things like this to people, pregnant or not. I have never done this to anyone.”

Kelley hopes that by sharing this post it will let people know that comments like this can hurt.

“Even if something seems funny or a joke to you doesn’t mean it’s OK to say especially to a pregnant woman.”
