While it’s no surprise social media invites critics of all sorts: food connoisseurs, parenting experts and fitness know-it-alls, one of the most common internet trolls are body shamers.

One British mom fell victim to a crude comment from a follower. Katie Piper, a former model and television presenter, posted a photo to Instagram from the Pride of Britain Awards where she received a flood of praise from her 500,000+ followers.

Despite the majority of comments being positive, one follower felt the need to point out the expectant mom’s pose.

“As lovely as you look please stop holding your belly, it’s not flattering. The baby’s not going anywhere, I don’t know why people do it,” commented the follower.

The 34-year-old is pregnant with her second child, and responded to the criticism swiftly.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s flattering or not,” she wrote. “It’s one of the happiest times in my entire life and I’m celebrating it whilst it lasts and will continue to do so.”

In a time where internet critics believe their comments hold the highest court, what do you think? Should pregnant women continue to embrace the bump in their social media photos?
