According to body language expert Judi James, royal wedding watchers who could almost feel the couple’s love were definitely onto something.

If you noticed Prince Harry constantly taking Markle’s hand and rubbing it in his, James explained it’s because the couple are still in the honeymoon phase of their relationship. Speaking to The Sun, she also said that this may signify a way that the couple communicates silently with each other when they’re in public. Judi believes Harry looking at his wife and rubbing her fingers may also be a way for him to let her know he is craving affection and attention when they’re at official engagements together. Patti Wood, speaking to Good Housekeeping, agrees: “They’re truly connecting with one another, and their upward-turning smiles are proof that they’re totally smitten.”

Throughout the ceremony, it was hard to miss the newlyweds taking long glances and giggling at each other, a gesture James said could signify that they have an incredible “rapport” and respect for one another.

It was also no doubt a way of reassuring each other, especially when you consider the fact that they were being watched by millions of people all over the world.

As for the moment the couple appeared on the steps of St. George’s Chapel after saying “I will,” James said Markle would have used her experience as an actress to make it go as seamlessly as possible. “Instead of delaying the big moment, which can cause clumsiness or nerves, they kissed as soon as they appeared,” she said. “He kissed towards her lower lip, which can help avoid crucial lipgloss-smudging.”

The fact that they radiated so much affection throughout the day suggests that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are off to a great start together.
