Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s Daughter, Princess Lilibet, Christened

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan's daughter has officially been christened.

Last week, BAZAAR.com has learned, the Sussexes held a christening for Princess Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, 1, who was born on June 4, 2021.

Earlier today, a representative for the Sussexes used Lilibet’s official title for the first time when confirming the news of her christening in California. People first reported that the couple held an intimate March 3 ceremony at their home in Montecito for 20 to 30 guests, including Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland; Lilibet’s godfather, actor Tyler Perry; and an unnamed godmother.

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3, by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor,” a spokesperson told BAZAAR.

A source added that Meghan and Harry extended an invite to King Charles III, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate to attend the christening, but the senior royals were not in attendance.

Lilibet has held her princess title (and brother Archie Harrison his prince title) since Queen Elizabeth II's death last year.

In an interview last year, Meghan opened up about the low-key way she and Harry are raising their children—out of the spotlight and away from the strict protocols and media attention that come with being part of the British royal family.

Still, when doing press for his memoir, Spare, Harry said he greatly hopes his children get to have close relationships with his royal family one day.

"I've said before that I've wanted a family, not an institution—so of course, I would love nothing more than for our children to have relationships with members of my family, and they do with some, which brings me great joy," the Duke of Sussex said in an interview.
