Prince Harry Will Travel to the UK to See King Charles
Prince Harry will be heading to the UK in the coming days to spend time with his father following the news of King Charles's cancer diagnosis. T&C also understands that the Duke of Sussex has spoken with his father about the diagnosis.
This afternoon, Buckingham Palace said, "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual."
The Palace added, "He remains wholly positive about his treatment and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible. His Majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer." The Palace has not specified the type of cancer the king has been diagnosed with, only that it is not prostate cancer.
It was previously announced that Prince Harry will head to Vancouver and Whistler next week, to mark one year to go until the 2025 Invictus Games. There, he is set to be joined by Meghan Markle, and the two will carry out a series of engagements in celebration of the sporting event. It is unclear if his visit to Canada will be impacted by the latest news about his father's health. The last time Prince Harry was in the UK was in September, when he attended the WellChild Awards in London. Harry did not spend time with his father or his brother, Prince William, during the visit.
