Kate Middleton gave a major keynote speech this morning at a symposium for Shaping Us, her early childhood campaign that she launched in January.

Ahead of going on stage, the Princess of Wales spoke with broadcaster Fearne Cotton, and told her how Prince Louis and his class has taken part in her work in the early years field. His class at Lambrook School, she shared, participated in a study for the campaign.

"Louis's class, they came back with a feelings wheel," she explained, per the Mirror. "It's really good, they go to the classroom, these are five or six year olds, and going with names or pictures of a color that represents how they feel that day, so there is a real keenness in school particularly to get involved in conversations."

Kate continued, "It's actually helping continuity across the board—and then how does that feed into you, with your mental health, its same conversation, so to be able to find a bit of framework, to talk about this, is very important."

During her speech, the Princess spoke about the importance of encouraging children to express and manage their emotions. "Nurturing skills that enable us to know ourselves, manage our emotions, focus our thoughts, communicate with others, foster positive relationships, and explore the world are just as valuable to our long-term success as reading, writing or arithmetic," she said.

In another part of the keynote address, Kate said, "It isn’t enough therefore to simply wish for a better world. We must acknowledge and address the root cause of some of today’s toughest social challenges and work together to find better answers."
