Prince William and Kate Middleton Are "Extremely Moved" by Well Wishes
Just over twenty-four hours since Kate Middleton disclosed her cancer diagnosis to the public, the Prince and Princess of Wales have shared they are extremely grateful for the outpouring of well wishes they've received.
"The Prince and Princess are both enormously touched by the kind messages from people here in the UK, across the Commonwealth and around the world in response to Her Royal Highness' message," a Kensington Palace spokesperson said this evening. "They are extremely moved by the public’s warmth and support and are grateful for the understanding of their request for privacy at this time."
Yesterday, the Princess of Wales shared a personal video message where she spoke about her diagnosis, and asked for privacy as she receives treatment. "We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment," Kate said. "My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery."
After she shared her cancer diagnosis (though she will not be sharing what type of cancer she has), support for Kate came from other members of the royal family, the UK, and around the world.
King Charles said he is "so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did," and a Buckingham Palace spokesperson added that both King Charles and Queen Camilla "will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family throughout this difficult time." Additionally, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent well wishes, saying in a statement, "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
