Prince William Makes a Private Donation to Help Those Hit by Flooding in Australia

Prince William has been out and about over the past few days as royal family members carry on with their duties in the wake of the publication of Prince Harry’s controversial memoir. And today, the Palace also gave an insight into some of the work he is doing from his office as details of a video call were released by Kensington Palace.
The Prince of Wales spoke with people in Australia in areas recently affected by devastating floods. “Heartening but heartbreaking to speak with some of those affected by the serious flooding in Australia,” Kensington Palace posted in a message underneath a video of some of the call on the Prince and Princess of Wales’s YouTube channel. “As ever, their sense of community and selflessness is humbling, but it is terrible that such devastation seems to be occurring more often.”
William spoke with Daniel Cleave and Curtis Arthur, owners of a small business in Shepparton, Victoria; Grace Langlands, a member of the NSW State Emergency Service; Maureen Carter, CEO of the Nindilingarri Health Service in the Kimberly Region of Western Australia; and Brad Flowers, owner of the Overland Corner Hotel, Upper Murray, South Australia.
“Please make sure you are looking after yourselves and those in your communities who need it, because some people will be suffering in silence and I just want to make sure you’re all looking out for yourselves as well as each other,” the Prince said at the end of the call.
William may have a better understanding than most of what the rescue teams are facing, having worked both as an RAF Search and Rescue pilot and an Air Ambulance pilot. Kensington Palace also said today that the Prince has made a private donation of an undisclosed sum to the Australian Red Cross which is working in the areas affected.
People have been evacuated by the military in parts of Australia where the flooding has been described as a "one-in-100-year flood event, the worst flooding Western Australia has had in its history," according to Sky News.
In November, the King sent messages of support to New South Wales and Victoria in which he wrote he “could not be more concerned” about the situation.
