Princess Alexandra Just Nodded to Her Royal Mother and Grandmother With One Chic Outfit
Talk about some good fashion genes.
Princess Alexandra of Hanover is following in her mother's (and grandmother's!) Chanel-clad footsteps during Paris Fashion Week. The 24-year-old Monégasque royal attended the Chanel Haute Couture spring-summer 2024 show on Tuesday in a vintage Chanel piece that may look familiar to some eagle-eyed royal fans.
The princess wore a black-and-white tweed, knee-length dress from the Chanel fall-winter 1990 couture collection that used to belong to her mother, Princess Caroline of Monaco. The LBD has an ivory collar, two front pockets, and cream-colored embroidery on the pocket flaps and sleeves. For her part, Alexandra paired the button-up frock with black stockings and pointed-toe slide-on pumps, and she carried a black quilted Chanel handbag with gold hardware. A gold choker, bracelet, and ring accessorized her outfit, and she finished off the polished look with a red lip.
When Princess Caroline wore the dress in 1990, she paired it with a matching hat, white gloves, and black-and-white heels. She re-wore the piece in 1993, as well.
The mother-daughter duo's love for the storied fashion house may stem from their matriarch, fashion icon and actress Grace Kelly. The performer and princess was known for her sophisticated sense of style and often wore Chanel, specifically the brand's skirt suits and tweed pieces, according to Vogue.
In one specific family portrait, Kelly can be seen posing with Prince Rainier and their kids, Princess Caroline, Prince Albert, and Princess Stephanie. In the photo, which was taken in 1966, Kelly wore a pink tweed coat.
Alexandra is the only child of Princess Caroline and her husband Prince Ernst-August of Hanover, though Caroline shares three other kids, Charlotte, Pierre, and Andrea, with her former husband Stefano Casiraghi, who tragically died in a 1990 boat race.
