There's a new royal baby to celebrate across Europe!

Princess Caroline of Monaco's stepson, Prince Ernst August Jr. of Hanover, and his wife Ekaterina Malysheva have welcomed a baby girl named Princess Elisabeth, Hola! reports. The baby was born on February 22, 2018 at Henriettenstifts hospital in Hanover, Germany.

"With my whole family I am very happy and grateful for the birth," the Prince said, according to the Daily Mail. "My wife and I would like to thank the Henriettenstifts team for the friendly and competent care."

Prince Ernst August Jr. of Hanover is the son of Prince Ernst August of Hanover and his first wife, Chantal Hochuli. Princess Caroline of Monaco became Ernst August Jr.'s stepmother upon marrying Prince Ernst August in 1999. Caroline and Ernst August share a daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, but the couple has been formally separated since 2009.

Besides his stepmother, Ernst August Jr. is European royalty in his own right: he's a descendant of the now-deposed House of Hanover, a German royal family. Multiple rulers of the United Kingdom belonged to the House of Hanover, including Queen Victoria.

Prince Ernst August Jr. and Malysheva married in a grand royal wedding in July 2017. His father was famously outspoken about the wedding and refused to attend. The elder Ernst Augus publicly opposed the marriage because he wanted his son to return family property passed to him between 2004 and 2006, People reports. Princess Caroline also did not attend, but her immediate family and daughter Alexandra did, according to Hello!
