Publix and Winn-Dixie announce fall season ice cream flavors. Here’s the full list
Just when you finally finished the last scoop of Marry Me Strawberry or Buckeyes & Fudge that’s been in your freezer since Publix introduced eight limited edition summer flavors in June, now comes the holiday eight.
Publix has announced the release of eight holiday season flavors that should start appearing in stores in September. The holiday flavors will be available through the year. Good news since we’ve been hankering for the eggnog flavor since it went off the market in January.
Winn-Dixie has also announced it now has seasonal ice cream in its freezers with two fall flavors.
Publix fall flavors
Here are the eight Publix ice cream specials and the year the flavor first hit the market.
▪ Eggnog: Rich eggnog flavored ice cream with a hint of nutmeg. We doctor it with even more nutmeg because one can never have enough of the spice that just screams holiday season. The second oldest Publix ice cream recipe, the Lakeland-chain’s eggnog ice cream was introduced in 1992.
▪ Caramel Mountain Tracks: Toffee flavored ice cream ribboned with Mackinac caramel and dotted with praline pecans and milk caramel turtles. This mountain was first scaled in 2007.
▪ Marshmallow Candy Cane & Cookie Blast: Marshmallow flavored ice cream with bits of candy cane and a chocolate cookie swirl. Blasted off in 2019.
▪ Snickerdoodle: Brown butter ice cream with cinnamon graham crumb swirls and graham cookie pieces is the most recent addition to Publix’s fall ice creams, opening in 2020.
▪ Deep Dish Apple Pie: Apple flavored ice cream swirled with brown sugar-cinnamon sauce, pieces of real apple, and sugar-rolled pie crust. This flavor has been cooling since 2010.
▪ Peppermint Stick: Vanilla ice cream with bits of peppermint candy. Publix’s oldest enduring holiday ice cream debuted in 1983.
▪ Santa’s White Christmas: The familiar flavor of Barnie’s Santa’s White Christmas coffee mixed with cocoa espresso flakes was first sold in 2004.
▪ Pumpkin Pie: Pumpkin pie flavored ice cream with swirls of whipped cream and buttery flavored piecrust pieces. Hard to believe Publix didn’t get around to this one until 2009.
Winn-Dixie fall flavors
Winn-Dixie’s autumn-inspired ice creams are now available in stores, and the Jacksonville grocer’s going with two specialties under its SE Grocer’s brand.
▪ Sack ‘Em Sundae swirls caramel and fudgy brownie bits into vanilla ice cream and places some fudge flakes on the field. Have a scoop every time the Dolphins score a touchdown this season?
▪ Pumpkin Spice Latte ladles vanilla cream and espresso flakes into a creamy pumpkin ice cream base. Sounds like fall in Miami.
