Queen Camilla Wears Blue Velvet Dress With Moth Brooch for Christmas Tree Decorating Event in London

Queen Camilla joined special guests at Clarence House to decorate Christmas trees and more for the holiday season on Friday in London. The queen consort played host to children and families supported by Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

Camilla opted for a subdued, elegant look, wearing a dark blue dress with hints of black in a crushed velvet fabric. The queen consort’s dress featured long sleeves and a midi hemline, offering the British royal family member ease of movement.

Along with the dress, the royal wore a pair of black boots and accessorized her ensemble with a moth brooch she’s worn on previous occasions, including the Emperor and Empress of Japan’s state visit to the U.K. last June.

Queen Camilla’s moth brooch has been part of her collection for several years. Along with the jewelry piece, the queen consort inherited several pieces from her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, including tiaras, necklaces and several brooches she’s worn for special occasions.

During the visit with families and children from the Helen & Douglas House and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, Queen Camilla mingled and even enjoyed visiting Santa Claus. Others in attendance favored holiday apparel in shades of green and red.

Queen Camilla has long appreciated similar silhouettes to her dress for Friday’s holiday-themed engagement. The queen consort regularly looks to designers like Anna Valentine and Fiona Clare for staple pieces in her royal wardrobe.

With several dresses in her royal wardrobe, including a few garments she often rewears for certain public engagements, many feature a similar midi dress with long sleeves and a subtle waistline. It’s a style Queen Camilla returns to consistently and provides her the opportunity, much like her attire for Friday’s holiday event, to experiment with color, pattern, texture and more.
