Queen Letizia of Spain Favors Subdued Elegance in Navy Tweed Skirt Set With Heirloom Pearl Brooch While Hosting the President of Egypt

Queen Letizia of Spain added a sentimental piece of jewelry to her power dressing moment on Wednesday in Madrid. The Spanish royal joined her husband of nearly 20 years, King Felipe VI, as they hosted a lunch in honor of the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

For the special state occasion, Queen Letizia brought feminine touches to her power dressing style. The Spanish royal opted for a dark navy tweed skirt suit set with a pencil skirt featuring a hemline that fell just below the knee. The jacket of the skirt suit set included rolled cuffs and a sharp collar, as well as a modern touch with the front placket.

Queen Letizia continued the navy color motif with her footwear, opting for a pair of navy pointed-toe heels. When it came to her jewelry pieces for the occasion, the Spanish royal wore a pair of diamond stud earrings and added an heirloom jewelry piece to the jacket of her skirt suit look.

Queen Letizia fastened a diamond and grey pearl brooch that once belonged to King Felipe VI’s great-grandmother, Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain. The piece comes from the royal’s collection, and features two rows of diamond settings, providing the cushion for the large pearl.

Over the years, the brooch has been passed down to other members of Spain’s royal family. During King Juan Carlos’s reign, Queen Sofia often wore the brooch for special occasions such as state visits and formal dinners.

As the queen consort of Spain, Queen Letizia inherited several pieces from Spain’s royal jewelry vault, which she’s worn throughout her tenure as queen, beginning in June 2014. Back in April 2024, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia traveled to the Netherlands for a state visit. At the state banquet, Queen Letizia wore the extravagant diamond loop tiara.
